That Damned Car Itch

My best friend bought a new Honda Fit last summer. My sister bought a Kia minivan five years ago. Both vehicles are going strong. The Fit's exterior isn't much larger than most import economy cars, but the rear seats do fold down to increase the cargo space. I am also a pretty large fellow (over 6' tall, very broad shoulders, and thick), so I went with him when he bought it to see it the Fit fit. It did. Easily. In fact, it has more leg room in the front passenger seat than my mother's Honda CRV has. It also took Consumer Reports award for best buy last year IIRC. OTOH, the Kia line (a Hyundai brand) is very well priced against what others price their similar sized new cars with comparable features at.

^^ Yeah, I've noticed the Honda Fit as well, during my regular driving routine. What's irksome is that I've always sworn off newer cars (my current projects are a 1972 VW Super Beetle and a 1969 Karmann Ghia), yet cars like the Kia Soul, Honda Fit, VW GTI, and others all look like a blast to drive with room for hauling.

I'm 6' 6" tall and I love and fit in my Fit just great. I love small cars, always have. All the cars that I have owned have been small little cars, so it saddens me to no end to have to go with a SUV crossover. However the kids win out and we need the room to transport them, us and all of the STUFF. However I got my wife to promise, that once the kids are old enough. I would say around 5ish, that I can get the Mini-Cooper that I have always wanted.

Chrysler 300C is basically the same car and more room in the back. And it looks better ;) Where I to get any Dodge it would be the Challenger though. Even though I would like a black 300C just because it's so badass

I own a 2002 VW Jetta, 1.8 L turbo, 5 speed. It is a nice looking, driving, and handling car and gets really good mileage when I drive it on the highway. However, servicing and parts get rather expensive and for the past few years, all the little plastic parts have started to break. None of these parts were easy to get outside of the dealership and got pricey. The interior headliner came unglued, as well as the cloth on the door panels.

It also had several factory recalls for engine parts. My car never had any of the issues presented, but the dealership still fixed them with the replacement parts. I also had an issue with the clips that hold the windows in place. The one on my right front passenger window broke, when it was in the down position, and it took a while to get the parts to fix it (this ended up being a factory recall as well). There is also a common issue with the clearcoat on the general year range of my car, in darker colored vehicles. The clear coat started to slowly erode off, on the roof and hood. It looks like utter hell and the dealership hasn't said anything about a recall for that. I have seen hundreds of cars with the same issue. There was also an issue with the front airdam being too low, getting stuck on parking stops, and cracking or outright breaking.

Don't get me wrong, I love the car and will probably drive it until it dies. It just pisses me off that the paint looks shitty and all the little things started going after a few years. I've spent a few grand getting all the little things replaced. I would love to get it repainted but don't know if it's worth it. I too love the new Challenger, thought about getting one.

The Dodge Charger seems to have plenty of room. My SRT8 version is just a peach to drive too. :techman:

Meh, it's a 4-door sedan. Nice, but not my cup of tea.

The 300C has impressive, aggressive styling, but reviews I've read state that it's cheaply made and not very reliable. No thanks.

The Chally is my backup in case I don't like the Camaro when I drive it. I can't imagine why, but who knows.

Yeah, that's sorta whats keeping me away. That and the huge taxation on the HEMIs and the fact that they're very thirsty.

I'd be in partial heaven seeing as the Green is still only avaible on the V6s. Still an awsome car! I can't wait until I actually see one on the road.
