TGTD - Possibly tie in to Star Trek XI???

After seeing this article on TrekToday, it made me wonder if JJ will do a Enterprise/tie in into Star Trek XI with the TGTMD.

Even though there are some who liked it, TATV didn't go down well with Star Trek fans - ie. Their decision for Margaret Clark to bring back Trip in TGTMD.

In the Mayweather novel about the MACO's, sorry I can't remember the name - there was a beginning short chapter and an ending short chapter that indroduces us to Trip as an old man at the Xindi memorial, where he meets young Jimmy Kirk and his brother.

Since we are going to see scenes of Kirk and his brother as kids in flash backs in the film, will they use or a scene like in from the book as a way of acknowledging Enterprise and putting the craptastic 'TATV' to rest once and for all. What do you guys think?

It'd be great if true, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

I'm not going to get my hopes us as I don't intend to watch the film, (I'm not interested in watching a reboot) but it would be a good way to acknowledge Enterprise and put to right the TATV episode. They wouldn't even have to use Enterprise actors, ie. connor - since he was supposed to be over 100 in that scene. Casual fans wouldn't think much of it, but those of us who have read the book and watched Enterprise would acknowledge the nod.

Yes it would be, but I think it'd be easier to fix TATV if it was Connor Trineer in old age makeup.

I'm sorry to say that onscreen canon and the novels will probably remain entirely seperate.

God forbid, any TV show or film would recommend that you start reading books! ;)

I find it doubtful -- but, hey, it probably won't contradict anything in Last Full Measure and The Good That Men Do, either.

The series was a failure - nobody wants to be associated with a failure. I'm guessing that each of the series will have form of vague reference or visual prop for spotters of each series to pick up on - but stuff like discussed in this thread? Forget it.

All I can say it that it would be fantastic. And OF COURSE, Connor should play Trip! (Then we could photoshop him with T'Pold from E2!)

Last Full Mesure is the Maco book. I think it's an interesting idea if this did happen in the movie if does tie into Enterprise history like that. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens ehn the movie comes out. :vulcan:

we already have one of the writers saying they are fans of some of the books and they are doing some type of reference to enterprise.
just what and how i dont know.

also i dont think it will be that much of a reboot.

I like that Trip went out in a blaze of glory, and don't get why everyone is so intent on changing that.

A blaze of glory that was totally contrived and just couldn't have happened. The bridge would have noticed intruders on whatever deck Trip was on and sent MACOs and Security. At the very least another crewman would have been run into. It's just unbelievable.

I'm sorry, but they are redesigning too much for it not to be reboot. After the work Coto crew did to tie the smooth and bumpy foreheaded Klingons together, now we got 3rd kind of Klingon in this movie?

He didn't go out in a blaze of glory. He went out in a blaze of suicidalness. You can practically see his thought process going: "Oh, well, gosh, I've gotten out of hundreds of situations just as tough or far tougher than this, and there are dozens of things I could possibly do right now that would enable me to neutralize the intruders while saving my own life [not the least of which would involve simply waiting for the intruders to be noticed by security], but, instead, I think I'll CAUSE A GIANT EXPLOSION that's certain to kill me but isn't as certain to kill the aliens because they're further away from the explosion than I am. Please, let me die before security arrives."

Either the dude was suicidal, incredibly stupid, or the historical record is inaccurate. The Good That Men Do chose to go with the latter.

TGTMD was written to appease disappointed fans. I thought it was a good read, and that Trip's death was handled poorly, but TGTMD was definitely a patch for the angry fans.

I really like TGMTD and it and was interesting to see that reading through JJ Abrams interview transcripts at Trekmovie he said his favorite Star trek books were written by the Reeves-Stevens and Roberto Orci says it was Diane Duane's Romulan series of books that were his favorite trek books. It will be interesting to see if TGTMD is included too.

Funny, I just figured it was written because the authors and editors at Pocket thought that "These Are the Voyages..." was poorly-written -- in other words, not because they wanted to APPEASE angry fans, but because they AGREED with the angry fans.
