Terminator VI

I honestly thought Linda Hamilton would look worse in the role. I could buy her as like an OG badass leading the troops into her final battle...

I have enjoyed all of the movies. Salvation....not at first, but it has grown on me. Still need to see the Chronicles, read the novels, and check out the comics.

The first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the scar photos was Falling Skies.

Linda Hamilton can play that role forever, in one way or another. Fuck this age shit.

Here is Ruth Gordon kicking ass, taking names, and having a hell of a lot of fun doing it:

Damn, Linda Hamilton looks fantastic. My interest is certainly piqued.

I'm no gun expert, but I'm pretty sure that's most assuredly not an assault rifle...do these people even look at the images they're describing?
I'm not gun expert either, but yeah, definitely not an assault rifle.

Also, am I crazy, or does it look as though those aviators have been photoshopped onto Hamilton's face?
I can see why you might think that but I think it's just the lighting and the high-contrast of the photo-editing.

3 wasn't terrible. 2 didn't stop judgement day... Just restored the original timetable. 4+ is where it really dropped the ball.

Completely disagree. Mostly that 3 isn't bad and secondly, having a third film completely contradicts the meaning of the first two.

Don't let BS Hollywood logic seep into the lore, is what I think. The only reason 2 didn't stop it was because $$$$.

They tend to do that a lot, but even when not the reflections often get so retouched that it makes them look added anyway.

I'm actually cautiously optimistic about this one. The approach of having a new group of filmmakers develop a sequel or spin-off full of their own ideas and having the original filmmaker on board as a legitimately active creative consultant that provides their own ideas too (while still allowing the new creative team to have complete freedom and creative control) has been very fruitful in the past.

Just off the top of my head A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, the Buffy spin-off Angel, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Toy Story 3, Blade Runner 2049. Very fruitful indeed. Despite being pre-planned, I could also see the argument for including The Empire Strikes Back on that list as well. Terminator 2019, Halloween 2018 and RoboCop Returns just might end up surprising us. Given the success rate, I'm actually surprised this approach isn't taken more often. You get the best of both worlds. Fresh ideas while still feeling of a piece with the original work.

So they didn't learn their lesson with Genesys, it seems.

Or 3, 4, etc.
I'm not sure, but I believe this will have the most direct involvement from James Cameron, so that is worth at least a couple points in it's favor.
That picture is pretty cool, Linda Hamilton can definitely still pull off that badass look.

Part 3, filmed with Eddie Furlong, with minor changes, Imo would have stood next to the 2nd.

They never dealt with stopping the origin of skynet in T2, only of getting rid of the timeline corruption from the Terminators incursion during the first movie.

John Connor is important because he beat Skynet in the future, not because of anything they do in the past. his job was never to stop judgement day. It was to save the world from Skynet in the future, which is why Skynet launched its attack on John in the past.

3 is not the problem. the failure to show John and his importance in stopping Skynet in the future is the problem.

I can't say that really makes me optimistic. He did also plug Genesys as being good. Hardly the mark of quality anymore.

So - Arnie and Linda Hamilton on board, direct follow up to T2, Deadpool's Tim Miller at the helm and script by producer......James Cameron.

Works for me !

I don't know. Personally, I regard "Terminator 2" as somewhat overrated. I thought it was too long. The villain had disappeared from the narrative for quite some time. And the movie hinted that it may have prevented Judgment Day, considering that John Connor was still alive. Not a big favorite of mine.

And if this new film is all about erasing the 3rd, 4th and 5th films, I'm just not interested. Bryan Singer tried that with the latest X-Men movies. And frankly, I don't think he has really succeeded.

Sarah Connor Chronicles erased everything after 2.
And that show was WAY better than the movies it ignored, much better than I initially thought it would be.
So there's merit in doing it this way, even within the franchise.

I thought it was an alternate timeline, not an erasure.

There are no alternate timelines, if everything is erased, otherwise Skynet wouldn't have been saving itself by making an alternate timeline.

It's either/or.

If there are alternate timelines, then there is no erasure.

However...

MatSmith/Skynet is supposed to have been moving sideways in time through parallel timelines of pasts that it did not come from, which means that nothing is erased, and all timelines continue to exist.

In the photo, she has a short-barrel pump shotgun, most likely 12-gauge, in her hands, an M-72 LAW hanging from carry strap, and in her vest are two canister grenades and what is most likely a .357 magnum revolver.
