Terminator Salvation: Trailer Two Released

Did Skynet start building terminators/other machines BEFORE 'Judgement Day', or after it? I doubt it could have hidden machines until the nukes went off. Then everyone was a bit busy....

Depends on the continuity.

T3 - this is an aspect being honored - had humans building machines at the CRS Facility and they became the first generation of Skynet machines.

In the T2 novels Skynet came online thanks to the manipulations of a Skynet Agent sent back in time. She uploaded the schematics into automated factories that Cyberdyne constructed. The first generation of HKs were ordinary automobiles that used Cyberdyne processors.
:wtf: Talk about a paradox!

^ TSCC seems to be following that direction.
I know. [Captain Janeway] Temporal mechanics gives me a headache[/Captain Janeway].

Overall, this movie needs to be a *hard R*. I'm talking ultra-violent, mother-effing, sonuvabitch, H-A-R-D Arrrrrrrrrrr.

My first comment about the trailer was, what no HD? I couldn't make out everything in the trailer but ah well. I still can't wait to see it. Its also kinda cool that the remnants of the US military are fighting back against Skynet. I suppose that by 2029 (first Terminator timeframe), the US military has either been beaten to the point that they have to rely on guerilla tactics or their hardware has been downgraded to the point that they are using said tactics.

it's more like by the late 2020s, early 2030s, the US military are largely dead and only civvies and people born post-J day are left to fight. in a TSCC ep, for example, Jesse mentions that they have a reprogrammed Terminator commanding a submarine because no flesh sub commanders who survived J-Day are left.

This is not a big surprise, honestly. It requires a lot of training to run a submarine. Especially our modern ones.

^ Yep. The group seen in this movie is not yet the Resistance of the previous films. These are actually factions of the United States military led by General Ashdown (played by Michael Ironside). John Connor is not yet the leader of the Resistance.

Michael Ironside? The movie will bomb now.

Question (and spoilers):

In T4, it is said by McG that Skynet is trying to lure Connor into a trap by kidnapping Kyle. How the hell would it know who Connor is before even getting defeated? Or for that matter, know about Reese?

I always thought that John Connor was an interesting character when he wasn't really a character. I mean, he's the McGuffin of the first few movies, more of a symbol than a character. Even in 2 and 3 when he is played by an actor, in neither film is he the John Connor the hero. The Connor that Skynet is after still hasn't been fully formed yet. I don't know, it's just me

You're questioning a paradox in a story that could not have existed without a paradox to begin it in the first place?

John Connor is the voice of the Humans (seen in the trailer by him on the radio) and he says he's been fighting the machines since as long as he could remember (which somewhat tells Skynet that it develops time travel). As for Kyle, if Marcus is somehow affiliated with Skynet as well as the Resistance one of the first things that John tells him is that Kyle Reese was his father (by accident during his ranting about he and Skynet having been at war since he was born).

Actually, in all other Terminator Media, John Connor never told anyone about Kyle Reese being his father.

Not interested in the film, but that was a great trailer, Christian Bale aside.

From what I understand,
Marcus starts off as not knowing where or when he is. It's possible that he's a Skynet plant, with some sort of subconscious programming that reports back to Skynet. But otherwise if he were to fall into the hands of Skynet, it would probably be too late for them to know about Kyle, his relevance, or why he would specifically have such a lure over John for this idea to work. Plus, John isn't supposed to be the big target yet, despite his radio transmissions. Ashdown and others may be targetted first.

Well I had no intention of seeing this at the theatre... until this trailer.

I'm sold!

Holly crap that looks awesome.

If this movie is as good as his TV shows are(Chuck, Supernatural) McG just might get the job done.
