I found T3 to be much more fun and a higher quality movie then this udder tripe. That isn't to say the movie was bad, I just found it not interesting. As I watched it I was thinking to myself just how much plot I didn't see or didn't grasp what was going on.

I'm not stupid, I just didn't see any real plot movie the story forward and didn't find Marcus to be at all interesting, and when he is captured and SkyNet explains things to him, I found that really disapointing.

How is it that the Terminators know about Kyle Reese in this time period?
In Terminator 3 the Terminatrix connects to present day Skynet and presumably gives it the 411.
And if they know they he's Connor's father and that sending terminators back in time will not work (and will ultimately lead to Connor's birth), why would they still do it?
Skynet is born from the reverse engineered destroyed Terminators sent back in time. So even knowing they fail to kill Connor, they still have to send them back to create its own genesis.

How did the Terminatrixknow Reese was the father?

Also where did Marcus come from? He seems to advanced for a Terminator from 2003.

^Perhaps he's less advanced. Perhaps he was the missing link between the wholly mechanical T-600s and the T-800 cyborgs with fully organic, synthetically-made skin grown especially for them. Perhaps the middle stage was to hijack existing human bodies and modify them, perfecting their ability to merge man & machine.

TS is easily worse than T3 plot-wise. I can't believe that it's even possible, but it is.

When you think about it, it's not that surprising. Sure, T3 is a thin rip-off, but it's a rip-off of James Cameron's masterpiece, T2. Sometimes it's better to rip-off a masterpiece than to generate original crap. Plus, T3 stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, one of the most charismatic movie stars of the last 3 decades. Terminator Salvation stars Christian Bale, an actor who, judging from his performance here, clearly couldn't be bothered.

Marcus may not have necessarily been a Terminator from 2003. when he donated his body to science, the Skynet group could have kept his body on ice until they were ready to turn him into a Cyborg. If I recall correctly, didn't Marcus look down on another copy of his body when he was escaping from Skynet's main computer room? If so, it could be a situation where Skynet simply used his likeness and memories because someone who thinks he's human and doesn't even know what's going on might make a much more effective infiltrator than a T1 Terminator.

That's pretty much what I figured he was.

This movie was amazing.

From the interesting opening scene, to the first action scene, and onward. There's so much in this movie, I'm probably going to watch it again.

Really? Can anyone confirm this?
He might be back for sequels then.

I do not recall that. It is possible because he is signed for multiple films.

Marcus could be seen on one of the beds in the Skynet VLA though.

I had thought that's where he came from.
Also I didn't realise he was signed on for multiple films. I thought he was the only one in the main cast who was just signed for one movie.

I think so. There was definitely at least one copy in the pit in the first scene and when he arrives at Skynet Central he gets a new body post haste. I don't think there'd really really be enough time to regrow tissue on his current chassis. There are almost certainly multiple copies ready to be booted up, but I think that's over now that Marcus is terminated.

Just seen it myself this afternoon. Didn't come out in Blighty till last week and I haven't had chance to go see it till today

Awesome. Not the greatest film I've ever seen but still very very enjoyable. Christian Bale is superb as ever.

I've avoided most info & spoilers on the film (and this thread) but I've seen some places saying it wasn't that good. I don't know what the hell their problem was and frankly I couldn't give a fuck

Actually, when at a Skynet facility, repairs can be made very quickly to the machines. The novelization also states its the same body only repaired.

Wow this sucked. I love T1, T2 and I think T3 is just ok.

This was boring. I didn't give a shit about any of the characters. I felt zero connection to John Connor.

It was completely unbelievable. Shockingly retarded. And I find it hilarious that McG is quoted on TV that this movie is about the soul and the human heart because this is one of the most soulless movies ever.

That´s exactly what i thought. It was soulless and boring. Kyle Reese was the redeeming factor...

And WTF with that spoilery trailer and those first minutes in 2003! The spoiled the Marcus revelation

A friend of mine enjoyed it much more than i did, just because she didnt see the trailer and got to the theater 10 minutes late!

How did the Skynet know Reese was the father?

I had this same question. How do they know about Kyle Reese? Reese dies in 1984, and i don´t believe Sarah or John would have told anyone about Kyle´s destiny.

And if it is as a poster already said, that it´s to try to avoid Kyle's successfull mission in 1984...how do they know about that?

Wibbly woobly timey wimey?

Again, the T-X had the data. The T-X, in T3, uploaded its database into Skynet. That was partially why Skynet is more advanced in the T4 timeline.

The story was a little messy, the characters underdeveloped, and reading about all the rewriting and retooling I now understand why. I'm not sure if I would have liked the original script, but this one certainly didn't do it for me. Overall, it wasn't a bad film, just felt like a giant missed opportunity filled with puzzling and hard to overlook moments like ...

SKYNET COULDN'T KILL JOHN CONNOR IN THE MIDDLE OF A TERMINATOR FACTORY.
... this one. Or trying to work through why highly efficient machines just wouldn't just kill Reese when they had him. If they knew enough about Reese to know Connor would rescue him, they knew enough to terminate him on the spot. But again, rewrites.

Average, because it had its rare decent (mostly visual) moments.
