Would it make sense for those of us who do not have Nielsen boxes (pretty much everyone) to watch the show online if at all possible? That way your viewership vote might actually count for something.

Just a thought. :)

Fox has said before they are monitoring online viewership of the series and it will help them make their decision. I have noticed (when watching it on Fox.Com) that the advertisements have gone from Fox based to actual advertisements.

^ I'm not entirely sure about Hulu. I know, as I said up thread, so many people were watching it on Fox.Com yesterday afternoon that it overloaded Fox's server temporarily.

I liked this episode (above average). As usual, I hated the little kid's acting (it seems almost impossible to find decent kid actors, so I'm willing to forgo this). But BAG did a great job, and John is starting to show flashes of why he'd be a good leader.

A couple personal pet peeves of mine about the Connors state of "readiness" -

1)They should all be wearing bulletproof vests, all the time. They make ones that you could easily hide under clothes, and would stop most handgun bullets. We see terminators use regular handguns all the time, so this would be at least partially effective.

2) They should keep a handgun with armor-piercing rounds on their person at all times. With the right clothing you can easily conceal a handgun, and Cameron should easily be able to gank some armor-piercing rounds from the local military base. Would be better (at least a little bit) against metal than the standard rounds I've seen them use so far.

3) They should have a cache of .50 BMGs in the house and one in each of the cars. I'd often wondered if an armor-piercing .50BMG would be enough to take out a Terminator, and as this episode showed it can significantly slow them down and even kill them if you hit them enough. Much better than the "knock them backwards to gain some time" effects of their shotguns. You can legally buy a semi-auto .50BMG in most states, regular military surplus rounds are easy to come by, and have Cameron pick up some AP .50BMG while she's stocking up on AP 9mm at the local military base.

4) Get rid of glass paned doors on the house. They spent all the time showing Sarah locking the glass french doors, which obviously won't do crap against metal. At least get some metal-reinforced windowless doors or something.

/rant off. These just seem like simple changes that would increase their defenses significantly. Money's obviously not an issue, as evidenced by all the diamonds they picked up, the cash they walk around with, and the new cars.

Here's one of my own...STOP CALLING YOURSELVES JOHN AND SARAH!!!! I know they're two of the most common names around (hell, they're the first names of the Republican presidential ticket) but keeping those names just shortens the list for Terminators to search for.

That too, but I'm willing to forgo that one for the purpose of the show. You obviously want to have the characters identify as John and Sarah for the viewers.

I also think that in the real world it would be hard enough to remember what name you are going by in the specific situation. In this past episode one of the times John was saying his name he hesitated and said "John.... Baum" and almost looked down at his nametag. I think that could cause more problems if you always had to remember if you were John or Jacob or Josh.

I really like this show and hope it can continue somehow. Product placement is the wave of the future. as this is the only way to sell stuff to Tivo/iTunes viewers.

Fox is wise to look at online counts because I bet there could easily be another million viewers there at least. Especially for a sci-fi franchise this old and geeky.

True. John and Sarah in private but different first names in public.

I noticed that the past episodes are up to 50 minutes long.
That are eight more minutes than other tv shows are nowadays - except those on HBO and ShowTime.

Is that because of that product placement some wrote of in this thread?

^ Goodbye to All That was shown with limited commercial interruption thanks to [insert product placement] Dodge.

Sarah does have a new name as does Cameron (I'm not sure why John kept John Baum and Derek kept Derek Baum though).

That's more of the Wizard Of Oz references, L. Frank Baum wrote all 14 Oz books.

Exactly. Plus you can't skip the advertisements.

Now if we could just stop them from advertising other programs during the one you're watching, all will be right with the universe.

Is there any way that us foreign viewers can help with the ratings?

Fox won't allow me to watch, because I'm not in the US..

Btw, this was the best episode of season 2 yet. Really glad that Johns new "gf" wasn't in it :bolian:, and John didn't seem whiny at all. Loved the future war scenes, and have to agree that BAG is doing an excellent job.

In a Spanish class I was in way back, we had to use Spanish equivalent names, and the closest thing to Ryan was Raul, which was pretty different. However, I adapted fairly easily to recognizing that. People also easily adapt to nicknames as well, so I don't think this could be so much of a problem.
