Tennant 5th season?

Thought you'd all like to know that David Tennant has 99% agreed to stay on board for a fifth season, however that will be it as he wants to leave Who on a high.

Steven is already thinking about the future of Dr Who and the 11th Doctor. He has a shortlist that he keeps adding to and taking away from (some of the names get mentioned on here a lot, but some would surprise you).

Cuyrrently the name at the top of his list is Matthew Macfadden

Gosh; good to have that all settled then.

RTD thinks Tennant will be the Doctor till he's an OAP.

David Tennant could still be playing The Doctor when he is a pensioner, according to showrunner Russell T. Davies.

The head writer told the Sunday Express that Tennant may hold on to the Doctor Who role for as long as possible as he is enjoying it too much to walk away.

"David may never leave, he could go on forever... I haven't talked to him about leaving. Maybe it will never happen. Maybe he'll be 70 and have to be taken off set," he said.

Davies added that Tennant will be difficult to replace when he finally leaves the show, saying: "David has brought everything to Doctor Who... A lot of straight men don't handle humour well, but he can do the tragedy too."

doesn't his contract only have 5 eps left? it was said that unless he could get a movie deal out of it, he won't extend it beyond the 5 ep committment he already has.

Oh God, as good as Tennant is that is a truly horrible notion!

Surely we can all spot RTD having a laugh with a reporter at this stage?

And in the proper, serious BBC4 interview he did with Mark Lawson last year he confirmed that he knew exactly when Tennant would be leaving.

I googled the name, and the pic I got was someone who looks incredibly a LOT like David Tennant. If that's the aim they're going for, I will be greatly disappointed. I don't mind young. I know there's nothing that can be done about that in the modern market of television (at least nothing anyone is brave enough to do). But, I would hate to see another actor so similar to Tennant's appearance. Half the fun of regeneration is the complete overhaul itself.

Here's hoping they wouldn't cast so obvious... :techman:

Meanwhile...

Paul Kaye IS the 11th Doctor.

You heard it here first

Rumor: Moffat taking over in 2010

This is true.
So, then, Steven Moffat and Paul Kaye, right?

I'm going to remember this, you know. If you're lying, don't show your face here after either the 11th Doc or the new showrunner is announced.

Chibnall to leave Torchwood?

Chibnall is only taking the IVT job to gain experience before taking Dr Who over from Russell in 2010...

I'm keeping track. Misdirection, indeed... ;)
