Ten worst animated characters

Elmyra Duff - Nothing But Annoying. And they kept bringing her back.

She kinda worked when they first introduced her on Tiny Toons. It was when they permanently paired her up with Pinky & the Brain that she turned into the animation equivalent of Ted McGinley.

And no list of annoying TV characters in any format is complete without mentioning Scrappy Doo. If Scrappy Doo had never existed, would The Simpsons have ever come up with Poochie?

Let me think of a character that should have made the "Best" list

hmmm
ah GOT IT ----snap.

Good question, Kelthaz, but it looks like they're only going for animated characters in animated productions.

Given I've only seen the first Ice Age but I liked Scrat and I don't like Jerry Lewis. How did he get stuck at #2!?

This would almost make sense if the #1 worst wasn't Monkeybone... a live action movie that mixed in animated characters... so in my world Jar Jar Binks should have been #1, hands down, no questions asked.

I think there's a difference between animated characters that are supposed to look animated (like Roger Rabbit, the dancing penguins in Mary Poppins, or the cast of Cool World) as opposed to computer generated characters that are supposed to look photorealistic and merely create creatures that can't really exist in a live action environment.

And where is Jar Jar Binks? How can he not be somewhere in the top ten.
Agree. He definitely belongs on this list.

I disagree about Linguini from Ratatouille. Just because the rat outshined him... doesn't mean he's a bad character. He's just the straight man. The rat is the funny one. In fact I really enjoyed watching the two of them in the movie. It was pretty good.

I totally disagree about Linguini, I loved him & I think his relationship wth Remy was so cute.
More to the point, with the long and varied history of animation... you know there's got to be more awful characters then him, as he's, you know, at the least inoffensively likeable.

This list is more 'here's some characters from movies in the last ten to fifteen years that rubbed us the wrong way and also the Beatles' sort of thing.

You really should go for truly repugnant characters for lists like these, even if they're things nobody's ever heard of. That can be just more interesting to read about.

Agreed. Quite frankly, most of those characters were very well done. Linguine was supposed to represent your average teenager/young adult. He wasn't supposed to stand out. Yeah, this sounds like more of a laundry list of "we don't like 'em just because" choices. They didn't even have any concrete reasons to dislike any of them, just a vague "we think they look bad".

Yeah. Ratatouille is one of those great comedies that kind of sneaks up on you and gets better & better with repeat viewings (like Addams Family Values).

I disagree about the prehistoric furry raccoon creature from Ice Age..I personally adored this little thing and actually felt sorry for the poor guy cause he spent most of his time trying to eat that acorn!
I do agree about donkey but disagree about Mushu-actually love him in Mulan! But donkey I wanted to punch in the mouth..ironically both of these characters were voiceovered by the same actor. :D

That's just because Ogres are like parfaits. Everybody loves parfaits. :D

Second vote for scrappy do. How about the horrid three stooges cartoon? They should get a vote for sure

I abhor Stewie Smith or whatever from Family Guy. I hate that whole show and that nerdy megalomania schtick is so old.

Just thought of something else: Star Trek TAS.

I mean, the storylines themselves, and the voice acting, were fine. But the actual animation itself? It's just your typical 70's cheap crap. Oh, how I dream of a CGI remake...

People don't know he's animated because we've reached the point in digital technology that we can create characters who are indistinguishable from real people. This is it, We've achieved perfection now! Or so George Lucas thinks.
