My wife saw an episode of the Original Series when young that scared her, and now she can barely watch it!

as a matter of fact I am scared big spiders myself. The one in my avatar is about the size of the Q on a keyboard. At this size I find spiders rather pretty and interesting. The largest one we have here is palm-sized, though, and that's a calibre far beyond my argh-threshold. On the other hand, they are very useful and much wronged critters. Since we tend to protect only animals we find cute, the jumping spider in my av is propably a good ambassador, with his violet eyes and the melancholic expression.
Spiders are generally good members of the outside community. But they do have that "oh crap" factor, particularly when a big one crawls out from under the dash when you are driving... [shudder]. but for the millions of good spiders, you've got the ones that bit you with crazy flesh eating poison, or are palm-sized (for real?? 
) or whatever. The large size of any bug freaks me out (except dragon flies, man those things are cool), I think a palm-sized lady bug would freak me the heck out! 
I went to college at a school in Pittsburgh, PA that had a neato basement tunnel thing that connected some of the dorms. A lot of duct work also went through those tunnels, so up high on the wall would be round ducts traveling through square cement openings, sorta like Jefferies tubes. As I was walking with a friend through those tunnels we could hear the pitter patter of what sounded like many little feet. It was weird, the echos through you off, but we kept our heads down expecting to see a big bug skittering about. As we turned a corner, there was one of these openings above us, and a cockroach was running through the duct work tunnel so fast that when it hit the end it kind of flew out of the tunnel, right into my friends hair. She was not thrilled, and the echoing of her screams caused both of us to beat feet through to the other dorm. That story makes me chuckle and cringe all at the same time even in remembering!

While biologists as a species are pretty tough and definitely crazy, this particular specimen is one of a kind - or so I dearly hope...

in a German spider determination key a scientist writes (in earnest!) that a reliable method to overcome fear of spiders is to eat one. However, he adds, in case of this species the infallible remedy failed.
If I can meet spiders in a controlled way I'm ok but ANY creature that falls upon me will be screamed at in a panic and possibly stomped out of existence. This includes rodents.
I don't particularly wish to eat any insects esp cockroaches. But if hungry have no doubt that I would.

^ Are there poisonous snakes in your country? Over here we have only 1 (moderately) poisonous species and that one is very shy and peaceful.

Okay, I feel really dumb. I've lurked on these boards for some time, more to check up on behind the scenes news and new releases and so on. On more than one ocassion I've seen an interesting thread and thought about opening an account, but never got around to it. Today I thought, I'm gonna take the plunge and join up - only to be told that my email was already registered! Turns out I'd joined up some time ago and somehow totally forgotten

seems the male spider likes the female legs on them .. the size of the legs IDK I saw a documentary a long long time ago where they had a female and in the shadow they increased a certain part of the ends of her legs and the male spider sorta lost his mind bouncing all over the place. strange I remember that ? but the male dies after mating with spiders and it is something of a puzzle to me not like the praying mantis that eats the males' head but just some kind of thing to die after sex Don't know ...
