Tell us about your presents!

One ticket to see AC/DC at the Stade de France on June 13, 2009. Courtesy of my sister!

I got a brick.

No, really, I literally got a brick.

Well, OK, the brick was in the package to make it feel like there was something substantial in there instead of just a letter with a nice $25 gift card, but there was a brick nonetheless. I got a few other nice things, but, well, if you don't ask for something specific in my family, you're probabably not going to get much (which I'm perfectly fine with, actually, as I hate to see presents go to waste for some reason).

Did this added weight add to the joy and anticipation of the unwrapping?

And did the discovery of the brick instantly sap that joy, and replace it with shock and disappointment? So much so that it detracted from the pleasure of the gift card?

That you probably would have been happier with the gift had there been just a gift card and no brick?

But then in hindsight, the brick was actually quite funny and made that gift particularly memorable. So much so that in the long term, it was probably a good thing?

And just think, that in a few thousands years, of similar gifts, you might have accumulated enough bricks to be able to build your own house :D

In addition to gift cards and such:

- Lost season 4
- The Year's Best in Science Fiction anthology
- The Killing Joke
- Mario Kart (Wii)
- Corner Gas season 5

I have nothing to report as yet, but I did put World Of Goo in my Amazon Shopping Cart. :D

I'm pretty sure I'll get Kingdom Of The Crystal Skulls and probably the second season of Kung Fu. I've kind of got my fingers crossed that I'll get that hardcover Don Martin set.

Wow, you've got great taste!! :) :) We have all three seasons of Kung Fu in our hard (non-digital) library. And you'll love World of Goo :D
I did get Kung Fu Season Two. :) No Indy, though.

Among my other gifts were Dark Knight, The Marvel Encyclopedia, a complete collection of Star Trek comics on DVD, The Brain From Planet Arous, a collection of American Indian folklore, an electric air pump and new gloves.

I got a couple of bottles of good whiskey, an insulated flannel shirt, a $25 gift card to Regal Cinemas and a year's subscription to The Sporting News. I'm happy.

My present? A baby girl sometime next week. And some other very thoughtful gifts ranging from boots to workout gear. I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas.

I got quite a lot of goodies- three cross stitch charts, some bead jewelry making supplies, gift cards from Borders and Michaels, three cute tops, a purse, cosmetics from Ulta, computer accessories, and a nice big box of Godiva chocolates. And if that wasn't enough, my dad says he wants to go ahead and buy me a replacement for my dead camera. I told him I could wait until my birthday in August, but if there's a good deal this weekend, he's going to get one.

I had more fun giving than getting, though. My mom and sister loved the cross stitched pictures and beaded jewelry I made for them. They know exactly what they're doing when they buy me craft store gift cards. They'll get presents and cards in return!
