Tell Me Three Things About Yourself

.

3) I'm a blueberry fanatic. Especially in search of the ultimate blueberry pie!

I wish I could find everything blueberry...soda, ice cream, gummy bears, sauce for my chicken.

I have seen soda, candy in blueberry flavor.

I could also go for the ultimate blueberry pie.

1. I daydream.
2. I'm a political science student living with my girlfriend.
3. I love fried foods and dark beers.

1. I created and run a huge, very information site devoted to rejected scores, where a compseor does a score for a film/TV series/video game, but in the end it is replaced. I've talked to directors, producers, composers, musicians, other people, and interviewed some composers. My "recent" interviews have been with David Shire ("The Taking of Pelhem 1, 2, 3", "The Virginian" [series], others) and Jerrold Immel ("Gunsmoke", "Knots Landing", others) and have interviews coming with:

Christopher Page (unknown comosers who's worked with Mike Post on a bunch of famous projects, like "Magnum, pi", "Quantum Leap", other shows/films)

Ben Lanzarone ("Dynasty", "The Love Boat", others)

Charles Gross ("Turner & Hooch", "Country", others)

and composer on all the Trek spin off series, Jay Chattaway (depending on how fast he gets back to me [he forgot to answer a handful of the question], it could be up in a few days)

2. I have a sister, a model, who's been breaking into film/TV. She was an extra on films like "Fast and the Furious 4", "The Ugly Truth" (and some other no-name films, or garbage like the first one I mentioned), and been on TV shows like "Cain", "Everybody Hates Chris", "Scrubs" (last season), and supposedly will be getting a re-occuring character on a series, I think it was "Lie To Me" (but I could be wrong about the series name). Myself, also very handsome (no e-lie either).

3. I write (poems, short stories, novels, fan fiction, random stuff), a LOT.

[.3.] I write romantic fiction.

Really? I didn't know that. Just for fun or do you hope to get published one day?

Right now I do it just for fun. My stories average about 25-30 pages total. However, I have plans to either combine them into one single tome, or just write a fresh story about 5 times the length of those short stories. I do want to be published, but I don't know whether I want to finish my Sci-fi stories first and then publish these later, or maybe, just incorporate them into the Science Fiction stories.

I had no idea that "Dear Penthouse..." was considered Romantic Fiction :shifty:

OMG! And that is exactly how i feel about raspberry. I cannot get enough of it!!

If you're ever in Santa Fe NM, there is a French bakery off the main square that has to die for raspberry cookies...:techman:

2. I love working with film and would love to one day work as a film editor full time. However I am likely never to do so because of my ability to suck it up and do intense manual labor without complaining. That and there's really no jobs in film these days.

So what kind of education have you got? Is editing movies just a hobby or have you properly learned it? If you haven't learned it yet why don't you take course? Have you ever considered to work as a freelancer? It's true, jobs in film are rare these days, but it might help if you can show some projects that you have finished.
I've had a year of "general film making" education. During it you where able to go trough the whole process on several projects in different sizes. I was already interested in editing when I started and from the second project forwards I was the editing guy in whatever group I was in.

Ironically the project that I worked the hardest on with editing was a project where the image was pretty locked in and you couldn't really do much editing since we made it with an actress reacting to a pre-existing audio track and, get this, without any sound from the production. It was a nightmare project when we started, and our hard drive crashed and we didn't make the deadline for that.

What I did was take it up later on when I for reasons beyond my control, didn't have anything to work on when everyone else was working on the final film of the education. So I shut myself in the editing room for a month and finished the damn thing as much I could. When I finished it still wasn't what I wanted it to be and I would have needed someone who knew audio way better then me, but I'd impressed the hell out of a lot of fellow students and the teachers.

What I'd done was completely re-edit it from scratch, done the entire soundmix from almost the ground up (including some creative ADR and Foley work) with an antiquated sound recorder since all the new stuff was out and in use already, and colorcorrected it. It was all worth it to see people who hadn't had anything to do with the project see it on the final showing and react to the film how I wanted them to.

That being said I never wanted to do anything with film again. That attitude remained for about two months

What I was most happy with from the entire education and liked doing most was a little commercial film project. And it's the only one I have on the tube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcAXX-Mu8n8

And why I like that ti's because it was fun to do all the way trough, and I had total control since I did it all myself.

As for further education, they are very limited around here. There is one that is very well respected and almost guaranteed to lead to a job, but it's four years long and costs A LOT. And I've pretty much used up what I had in student loans. Plus right now we're in some pretty bad shape financially in our family so I don't have any choice and need to stay at the one badly paying job I have. In fact I'm become more and more convinced that my purpose in life is to make sure that my brother has a place to stay so that he can get to school easily, that he keeps doing what he wants to do and gets a good education so that he can have a shot at life. Because at 25 I seriously doubt I'll ever get to work with something I actually like or that pays anything decent.

Oh yes! I love blueberries. I can't tell you how much money I spend each year on fresh ones at the grocery store. I eat them like candy. When I was three or four, I would escape into our backyard and eat blueberries off a bush my mom had. If she didn't catch me, I would clear out all the rip ones that I could reach.

And blueberry pie is one thing but you haven't lived until you have had my mom's blueberry cobbler. It is tart and tangy with just the right amount of sweet and a butter crust. With a little vanilla ice cream, you would think you were in heaven.

Can I do my three things again? I have more interesting things than what I put down the first time. I didn't realize were looking for things to discuss.

DAMN YOU!!!

Now I really want some blueberries.

:(

In short, I'm a horrible person.

Pish posh! They are called "high standards".
And you honestly don't seem like a horrible person, seeing that you are aware of what's going on in that nogging of yours and presumably don't act on it.

Hang on there, Me-Ike!

Thanks! :)
Only three and a half more weeks to go. Which is ... panic inducing.

How are you coming along?

1) I just finished my PhD in astrophysics (and I mean just finished: I defended my dissertation last week).

Congrats!
I have a friend who is where you were three weeks ago. Has it been as soul crushing for you as it is for her?

I often find myself tempted to shave my head, as I hate dealing with my hair.

I always wonder what kind of shape my head is under all my hair. I really love it when people have a "pronounced" back of the head!

I want! I think the HGTV contest the husband and i have been entering is for a house in NM. Maybe we'll win (yeah, that'll happen) and then i WILL get me those cookies!!

I can't imagine that Kestra would nix the idea. GO for it! :)

Dennis, let me guess. And you're into champagne. Hmmm....you oughta go over to the "Want to have an affair thread"!

1) I love to cook but I don't want to eat stuff after I cook it. (I make cakes, pies and bread all the time and give them away.)

2) I only have one real phobia. I am terrified of heights. I am to such a degree, I get dizzy just looking over a balcony one floor up. I don't even like standing on a chair.

3) I have a big personality and the smallest voice imaginable. It is like the universe was trying to balance me out... except for my laugh. It is very loud.

It's like we're the same person!

 Oh shit. You mean we aren't??

BTW, i am thrilled to see what you look like. It's really nice to put a face to the name. :)

You can come here and cook anytime! I hate cooking.

Im also not crazy about heights. I don't think i am as scared of it as you are, but close.

And #3...i just think that's adorable.

I sneeze louder than anyone in the universe. You can hear me in the next town. I'm always scaring the crap out of people with my sneeze. But it's genetic. My dad was an olympic sneezer too!

Ha! They wish! :D

How are you coming along?

Very slowly. Something always comes up so I don't really get to work on my thesis. And having no deadline is always bad for my discipline. I really have to get into it, now. :)

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
