REALLY nice ones guys. I got another call shortly after I made the first post, so what did I do? I told them my roommate went back to Cuba. They are gonna call me again tomorrow at about 3.30pm my time again.

I'm signed up to the "no telemarketing" list, which is actually pretty damn effective.

I'm signed up the the TPS but increasingly I'm getting calls that show up as international, invariably they claim to be carrying out surveys.
Phone rings, my brother picks it up and after a beat he says, "What the fuck are you calling for? Don't you know what's going on in the world today and you're trying to sell me this shit?"

While it's not as much fun, telling the caller you're on the DNC list is effective. Telemarketing companies can be fined some large amount (several $1000, as I recall) for each and every violation. As a bonus to you, if you're on the DNC list and get a telemarketing call, then report it and the company is prosecuted, you get a share of the money the company is fined. So, the lesson is this: get on the DNC list, then if you get a call, pay attention to the name of the company if you can get it and report the violation. You just might get paid for your trouble.Polite telemarketers are not the problem. However, the rude ones deserve what they get! All my phone numbers are on the Do Not Call List and unpublished/unlisted, so I almost never get a telemarketing call.Hey i used to work as a telemarketer. It's not a great job at all and i know we bother people, but at the time, it was a job.
but I realized that it's a shit job that people only do because they can't get a better job
