"Tee Oh Ess" or "Toss"?

TOS: How do you say it?

"Tee Oh Ess." I've never heard it pronounced "Toss." :vulcan: I wouldn't say that any more than I'd call DS9 "Duh-Suun."

I suppose I read it "Toz", to the extent that I read it at all. I usually just register it without dwelling on it. If I were saying it out loud I'd say "The Original Series".

Around here I'll call it TOS (and would presumably pronounce it "T-O-S") but in real life I just call it "the original".

(Also, I just noticed I'm a commodore! Appropriate in the TOS forum, no?)

Generally, I say "Star Trek" - that's what it's called, after all. If clarification is needed, then I might call it "Proper Star Trek" or "The Proper One with Captain Kirk".

The only time I've used the TOS retronym is possibly in conversation with Trekkies - I don't know many - in which case I'll always pronounce it "Toss", because that's a lot funnier if you're British.

If I'm talking to non-Trekkies, I tend to call it "the original STAR TREK" or "classic STAR TREK."

TOS just gets blank looks.
