Teaser/Trailers...

What Trek teaser or trailer across the last 50 or so years has made you the most excited for an upcoming Trek series/film? It doesn't mean it ended up being your favorite series/film, just that it really got you excited.

For me? It is the 'Under Construction' teaser for Star Trek 2009.

That one from 2009 definitely did it for me. I remembering sharing it all over.

The rest are completely forgettable. I have left interest in teasers and trailers nowadays behind me. Either a film in synopsis is interesting to me or it's not. No trailer will change that.

The one that got me most excited wasn't for a specific film/series, but for Star Trek in general - the trailer from the UK DS9 videos back in the 90s:

[Trailer runs from 0:20 - 4:05]

There are so many great moments in this montage that still make me grin and get me all excited for Star Trek! :D

Star Wars sound effects aside, that is how to set up a movie teaser or trailer that manages to not spoil anything. The teaser, almost as much as the actual movie, is a stroke of genius atop another.

On the other hand,

Ruining the audiences' and/or makers' fun by preempting a ginormous spoiler leak by shamelessly upchucking the best bit in the middle of the actual teaser can still not fail to induce intrigue - after all, lightning won't strike twice regarding the death of Spock being piddled, thus prompting an emergency script rewrite that thankfully fit perfectly - and then some. That said, did they really need to so boldly peacock "Join us on this, the final voyage of the starship Enterprise!"? (Did they think this would be the final flick at the time and were using some weird form of reverse psychology to get people to sit through 90 minutes of boredom combined with a boom boom battle after stealing the ship?? Seems unlikely, but the movie has a nice and suitable pacing and really isn't boring. It just isn't as readily rewatchable as a result, but there I go blabbling on again...)

Also, there were a few I recall for another Trek series that had me hyped at the time:

I forgot about these, sadly - back when the universe was such a small place:

I was hyped in 1991 and not just because of that sumptuous music. Three dateless theater trips later, people said I was seeing the film too much. (Uh, okay... at least I'm going out? :guffaw:)

Loved the title font's glass and chrome look, too...

For me it was seeing the First Contact trailer in the theater. I had never seen a star trek movie trailer in the theater before and it actually gave me goosebumps! Right at the start when the Paramount logo appeared, I knew immediately it was for the new movie.
