Teaser Question....

Wookie

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
I have a quick question.... Please forgive me if the answer is obvious on the big screen, but does the Trailer really show the Enterprise being built on earth?

All we see is unprotected workers... Isn't it possible, that the shipyards are large orbital facilities that provide a complete dry dock situation where people can work on the exterior of the ship without the need for "space suits"

From what I have seen, the E is being worked on in a very dark enviorment...

For people that find it odd that the ship is constucted on Earth, I must repeat a salient point that someone else brought up here somewhere before, and that is that it would be easier to build a ship on Earth because you wouldn't have to worry about so much EVA time for all those workers.

if you're asking if you can see trees or something in the background, no, there are no sure signs that its on earth, but yes all of the workers are working unprotected, plus there were no sparks from the welders just floating around, so im guessing yes, earth

I saw the ship, but I failed to see the distant "city" others have claimed to have seen in the distance.

I actually don't care where they're building it, what they're using or wearing to do it, nor where they finish assembling it. ;)

why is everyone taking this trailer so literally? the welder guy is reinforce the concept of construction,no?

AFAIC the teaser is entirely metaphoric to emphasize the "Under construction" statement at the end.

I will be MASSIVELY surprised IF a single frame from this teaser is in the released film.

Robert Orci has posted at TrekMovie.com and stated just what you said---None of the trailer footage will be IN the film.

It will be.

Dang, the person who did the Akiraprise TOS Enterprise and the crew who worked on 'In the Pirkering' were correct as well.

Golly gee! :D

But isnt this the same guy who a few days ago was denying this was the trailer when a spot on transcript was released?

As far as the ship being built on Earth, skip to the 42-second mark on the trailer. That's about as good a look as you're going to get.

As for me, I believe that it's being built on Earth. What gives it away for me is how the mysterious lights off in the distance (perhaps from a city, say, San Francisco) are reflecting off what appears to be water.
