TAS stories as TOS revival basis?

Being fanfims, don't expect much from the writing and acting in most of them. A few use decent writers and some experienced actors, most don't.

I hadn't seen one of these in years and decided to check out at least one of them on YouTube yesterday (The Slaver Weapon)

No offense to the actors because we've all seen what they can do on TOS, but the voice recordings are awful. Their line delivery is almost lifeless, likely because they all recorded separately, and they often sound as if racing through their lines. Nimoy is closest to how he usually sounded on TOS, but in this episode he, Takei and Nichols all sound almost robotic.

I don't really blame them, many actors are not really suited for voice-over work, which is why up until the 90s there was a small community of voice acting specialists who bounced from cartoon to cartoon.

But back to this show, I'll have to give a listen to more TAS episodes, but IMO if one were to try to re-animate them using the original voice tracks, they might have an easier time re-recording the script with soundalike actors.

Something I've long wanted to do (and I have dabbled with it in single shots) is do something of a photonovel of an entire TAS story as live-action. That is I would storyboard the story using images from TOS to create the idea of a live-action version. Of course, it would involve a fair amount of Photoshop manipulation as well to get the desired result, but I think it would be cool.

That would be such a cool idea! I like it! But you're right about it involving a lot of work!!
