TAS as live-action....

The only bad logic I am willing to concede in "Counter-Clock Incident" is that Kirk and crew, when in the alternate universe, seemed to 'adjust' to flow along with it - they could talk to its inhabitants, and experienced the same flow of time they did. OTOH, Karla Five, when she was in the "normal" universe, spoke backwards relative to it. Kirk et al. didn't do so when they were in her universe.

That is the ONLY point I am willing to grant as to why the logic of this episode supposedly doesn't work.

As for the universe itself: Again, it is its own universe. There are an infinite number of universes, with corresponding infinite possibilities in each. *We* might think that this universe's logic, physics, etc. don't work, but they would not. What might seem silly to us would be second nature to them. In an infinite multiverse, anything is possible. In the most literal sense.

As for Counter-Clock World (the PKD novel): I read that book awhile ago and loved it. However: It was only recently that I realized exactly what "sogum" is supposed to be. (If you haven't read that novel yet: Don't ask.)

Part of what makes "The Slaver Weapon" and "Yesteryear" so cool is that they don't focus on just the three main characters.

You might very well be right. However, doing live-action v. animation, different things probably would apply. If you look at it from a modern-era Trek perspective, then having an episode that focuses on minor characters would be just a regular day at the office. During the TOS days, doing that probably wouldn't have flied with Shat. Also, you must realize that even though they were recurring, Sulu and Uhura were pretty much just guest stars (in terms of contracts). Shat probably would have pulled the "I'm the star; I'm in the episode" card. And, honestly, he does have that right to make.

With "Yesteryear," I do think they would have to find a way to work Kirk into Spock's adventure, probably for the same reasons as above.

In any event, interesting concept, Warped9. I first watched TAS only a year ago when I netflixed the DVDs. While much of it was a little to silly for me at times (I can see where Roddenberry later on kinda treated it as a red-haired, bastard step-child), I did like a LOT of the core concepts of the stories they did and it would have been neat to see if done live-action.

It wouldn't be so hard to include Kirk in "yesteryear": he goes back in time with Spock and consoles a terrified Amanda--an earth cougar--with some good old fashioned lovin' while Spock fights the space cougar. Voila! Dramatic symmetry. (We know from the Kirk's firsat time thread that he digs older women--his line in "Miri" was just tyhe laddie potesting too much.)
