TAPS-Ghosthunters? Did it exist before?

As you know, most reality shows aren't very real. The voting is rigged, the winners are preselected and the "real life" situations are scripted. I am curious to know if The Atlantic Paranormal Society existed at all before Ghosthunters. Did they just create it for the show or a few months before?

TAPS was started in 1990 according to Wikipedia, so I doubt they were created for reality TV, unless the scifi execs are psychic time-travelling aliens.

Yeah, but how reliable is that account? Anyone can edit that. It would be in the show's interest to create a back history. If a spy shows up someplace he has a manufactured back history.

TAPS has existed I believe for a while now. Much longer than Ghosthunters I know that. So 1990 sounds about right.

TAPS has existed for a very long time, they also have ties to other paranormal research groups around the US.

Ghost hunting is a field I am interested in.

TAPS predates Ghost Hunters. But Ghost Hunters International was created for that show. And they don't make any effort to hide that fact either.

Jay and Grant wrote a book about their early years with TAPS and it isn't even marketed with a connection to the show.
