Talking the talk (technobabble done right)

I really appreciate it when ST actors are off-stage from production, and they can talk the talk of technobabble just as well as then they're on stage doing their lines.

I think the DSC cast does it better than any ST cast yet. When cast from other ST series do it, sometimes they sound silly, as if they're embarrassed by it (and they might be). But all along, the DSC cast has said they're proud to be nerds, and bigtime ST nerds.

When you hear Doug Jones or practically any of them in interviews, they've got it down, and they share about it with a very genuine sense of excitement and passion. One more reason why I like DSC, because everyone involved is a fan.

There's definitely been a better balance of it in DSC than there was in VOY. For every impossible situation Voyager was in, there was a technobabble way out of it. It made for an easy way out, but either way I'm glad the DSC actors can roll with it. Geneviève Bujold (the original captain for Voyager) struggled to get out a single sentence of it, and she seemed very out of place in the ST universe altogether.

I love that interview with Jones! One of my fave Ready Room ones so far. The latest with Peck is also great. He seems so humble and also passionate about taking on the role of an iconic figure.

Tig Notaro is the only one who admits she has a ton of trouble getting it right and needs a few takes, but I find that her delivery is almost more convincing, because since she's really thinking about it when she's saying it, it almost sounds more real than just technobabble.

I'm liking her
She seems a bit eccentric, a bit out there, and not very Star Fleet at all

I would expect anyone named Tig - or Jet - to be pretty cool, and she has been. They've done such a good job with casting, I'm sure she'll fit in just fine, even while having that independent vibe that makes her all the more interesting.
