Tales of the Gold Monkey

Well, Donald P. Bellisario -- who did shows like "Qauntum Leap" and "Magnum, pi", ws a producer on this. I nfact, "Magnum, pi" main composer (duo) Mike Post & Pete Carpenter, scored the pilot (I don't know if they did the rest of the series).

And all the directors of the episodes worked on Donald P. Bellisario TV series, and/or famous '70's/'80's TV series.

While concieved years before, the show was part of the tradition of cashing in on popular movie by making a similar themed series that only lasts one season. SEE ALSO: Blue Thunder the series, THE FLASH, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (yeah, yeah, Galactica 1980), Band of Brothers*

(PLEASE IGNORE AIR WOLF, AS IT WAS TOO SUCCESFUL)

*Ha-ha.

I used to watch this show. A few years ago, I was trying to remember what it was called but couldn't. Then I happened across this thread and started reading it. I looked it up on YouTube and sure enough, I found the opening theme song which is one of the few things about the show I actually remember.

I didn't know Stephen Collins was the star.

I used to watch it because Stephen Collins was Decker; the same I used to have somewhat of an interest in 'In Search Of' because it was Leonard Nimoy narrating...lol

I say 'somewhat interest' because--at around 6 or 7 years old, I kinda wanted to see things 'move'...'blow up'...i.e. action...

Wow don't remember the music at all...it's very A-Team (unsurprisingly I guess) Starring guy from Magnum, girl from Airwolf...man I miss the 80's sometimes

As I recall the BBC showed it opposite Bring Em Back alive on ITV which, as a result, I never saw!

I love that theme; they used to use it in-show during action sequences, adding to the movie serial feel.

The only reason I watched the show at first it was Stephen Collins. Then Roddy McDowell took over the role as "Bon chance Louis" and C'mon people you forget "one-eyed Jack"?..

The girl from Airwolf isn't in Tales of the Gold Monkey.

Oh, I think I see the source of the confusion. I looked up Airwolf, and it looks like the lead female character was named Caitlin O'Shannessy (played by actress Jean Bruce Scott), which resembles the name of TotGM's lead actress Caitlin O'Heaney (whose character was named Sarah Stickney White).
