Tales from the assimilated.

I just told my computer, "You will comply."

I hadn't noticed it before, but I think I've been doing it for a while. Anyone else do Trek things like that in real life?

i've said on more than one occassion things are 'not logical'.

if anyone ever calls me 'Scotty' more than once, i shout, ' i cannae doo it cap'n i doon' ha' tha powa!'

(first time, i warn them not to. second time...)

Oh, lordy, my friends, my wife and I have had Trek sayings in our personal lexicons since the 70s. It's just part of the way we talk - I don't think we even realize it any more.

I've snuck up behind my wife and done something playful like tickle her neck or something, and she'll look at me in mock confusion and say "is there some significance to this action?"

Come to think of it, she's taken to calling me "captain" lately. :D

I once tried to microwave some food but it wasn't working. I asked my brother, "Is the microwave offline?" It took us a few seconds before I realized it wasn't plugged in, not some "offline" state.

When I'm arguing with my GF I'll throw in lines like "that is most illogical." and one time after being called an A**hole I pulled out a Garak line "Being an A**hole is a skill like any other, and to maintain a certain level of perfection one must practice constantly."

She was not amused.

My wife even throws in Star Wars quotes.

I once started drifting between lanes while adjusting the car radio. She said "Stay on TARget!"

If one of us trips over something she'll say "I don't think this is entirely stable."

:)

"Coffee. Black"
"Take us in, Mr/Ms (name as appropriate)" when parking with friends
"This far and no further!" in shouty voice
"It's a fake!" on numerous occasions

and some Star Wars ones...
"I love you....I know" :)
"Do or do not. There is no try"
"That is why you fail" (usually in response to " I can't do this/that/other)
"It is your des...tiny" (in Vader voice) + "No, that's impossible"
"It's a trap"

Mine is Mr. Spock's "Indeed."

Or to give the hand signal and say, Live long and prosper."

One time while cleaning up a mess I made, a co-worker was criticising me on my mopping skills, so I said "Damn it Jim, I'm a stockboy, not a janitor!"

We had a friend in college who was known for fixing almost anything electronic. We called him Scotty. On the other hand we had a loft bed that was painted white and was labeled NCC-1701 :)

We were watching a Tom Baker Dr. Who last night, set in a remote Antarctic base. As home base is trying to contact them on the radio, the bad guy suddenly rips the cables out to kill the radio. My wife and I, at the same time, said "It was a boring conversation anyway."

I love her. :)

So much win. I think I'll start doing that now. XD

Anyway, sometimes I do "Live long and prosper". I sometimes say "Its a fake" when theres one of those annoying "Your the 1,000,000 visitor!" ads appear in my browser, and on other occasions as well.

EDIT: My 47th post. Woohoo!

that's one i've used. that and 'we're all fine here, how are you?'

Every once in a while I find myself not using contractions, rather saying, "I cannot, I do not." etc. In fact, I was doing it today. I cannot say why?

When I close an application on my 'puter: "Computer, end program!"

Describing a flickering lightbulb once: "That photon emitter appears be going on and off-line."

Looking for a lost pet: "I just love scanning for life forms!"
