This is now the 2nd week of the study at my church, and today's experience was a success too, with healthy discussion that lasted nearly 2 hours after we watched "The Host" Now I know this is not a fan favorite episode, nevertheless, it is thought provoking and controversial, making it an excellent episode for discussion. Here are some questions I thought about for this episode, answer any that you please or perhaps there is something else that touched you in the episode.

1.Was this an awkward episode to watch? How about the ending?

2.Examine and discuss the relation between Beverly and Odan in Will Riker's body. Did you find any poitive attitudes and/or outcomes from their relationship?

3.Examine and discuss the relation between Beverly and Odan as a female. Again, any positive attitudes and/or actions from their relationship?

4.Do you think the way which Beverly loved throughout the events of the episode is a good model for the way that God would want us to love?

5.Final thought? How did you feel overall about the episode?

Was this an awkward episode to watch? How about the ending?

The episode did have a certain awkwardness and I think that was by design. I think Beverly made the moral decision. I think the writers and directors dressed it up so as not to appear preachy but they definitely wanted to broach the issue of same sex relationships.

Examine and discuss the relation between Beverly and Odan in Will Riker's body. Did you find any poitive attitudes and/or outcomes from their relationship?

One of the positive attitudes out of the entire episode is love...no matter what a person looks like and that is an interesting way to address, crippling injuries, deformations from fire or even dwarfism.

We know attraction begins...on the surface. But love is more than skin deep.

3.Examine and discuss the relation between Beverly and Odan as a female. Again, any positive attitudes and/or actions from their relationship?
I can't say I admire Beverly's decision because it was what God wanted. That's not what she said. But I can say that she knew her limits.

For me it is always a positive sign for show that doesn't get it's rating for moral blurring. Of course morals are different to all people. But todays shows are making every effort to erase whatever standards we may have. That's fine for those that don't care but good entertainment is becoming harder and harder to find. It seems every sci fi show that comes out now is trying to dictate a lower and lower standard.

For those that aren't willing to compromise their morals for entertain this is a problem because our choices are continuing to narrow. This pleasantly reminds me of time when you could find action and adventure without explicit content.

Do you think the way which Beverly loved throughout the events of the episode is a good model for the way that God would want us to love?

I think Jesus is the only good model for love.
He loved everyone, the Peter's and the Mary's
But he always did what was required of him
He was loyal them and his father.
