SyFy & Tomatometer say: DS9 is the best

DS9 was/is my favourite series but I tend to rewatch more episodes of TNG just because most TNG episodes are stand alone stories and not part of a larger arc.

I agree with their top three but I'd put Disco at a clear #4.

Voyager has high highs and low lows like any other Trek, but the problem with it that puts it below the more flawed Discovery for me is that unlike TOS/TNG/DS9, the middle is solid mediocre vanilla.

Between its great episodes and its dumpster fire episodes are twenty layers of bland milquetrek.

I think Enterprise deserved a better ranking. I would have ranked it ahead of any Kurtzman Trek series.

I think that as people gain a new appreciation for serialization, DS9's gotten a higher reputation. And, as people see how sloppily many of its elements were handled (no fewer than six of its worst inconsistencies could have been either explained away or eliminated by adding a mere 84 seconds of dialogue to the entire series), Voyager has suffered.

EDIT: I think that Star Trek Picard's low rating could easily climb in time. Every Trek series save the original has had its share of first season struggles, "finding its place" as it were. Maybe it will too.

DS9 is a great show.

I think Syfy.com should have found a better image for Enterprise than a black and white headless shot from TOS but that's another thing.

I'd have switched it around a little in terms of ranking, DS9 not being my favourite, but it's always nice to see something that's under-appreciated gain some appreciation.

I liked TNG better than DS9, and while I liked the TOS movies, I never really got into the series itself. Also, I tend to rate. LD fairly high: it's basically a fanfiction parody, and it does the job brilliantly. But for the most part, they got it right. I even support Voyager at #4. Despite sloppy writing, there is a lot about it I like.

Could you elaborate? I don't know Voyager well enough to know where the inconsistencies are

It's not the lizard thing is it? I don't know wtf the writers were smoking that day.

Discovery is the only series I could not bring myself to watch. For "rewatchability", for me it's TNG, followed by VOY, DS9 then ENT and finally TOS. While I really enjoyed watching Picard, it's more like a Korean drama with the single story going across the entire season, and because of that it's too much of a time investment.

Enterprise is dead last for me. The first two seasons are unwatchable.

Voyager and the first two Enterprise seasons are just TV cliche buffets. They do the "Trapped in a small space" cliche, constantly just sticking two characters together, have them fight, come to a greater understanding with each other, which they forget in the next episode. They're shameless in their fanservice. They constantly meet aliens of the week who manufacture jeopardy for the crew based on their total lack of self awareness and basic reason. Half their episodes are TNG episodes with the serial numbers filed off. They come out with very basic "Ideals are good" takeaways without ever putting them in situations where they're challenged or questioned.

They're just plain lazy riskless ratings servile TNG photocopies with boobs and catsuits that care more about having a good promo than telling a good story, bereft of even any real fun personality.

Taking risks and occasionally having them fail is better than never taking any at all.

I have to agree.

Since I finally got functioning DVD:s and finally got the chance to watch the series from start to finish, I've realized what a masterpiece DS9 is.

I'm into my fourth straight rewatch of the series and it's only getting better and better. In every episodes I discover little things which I might not have noticed before but which enlighten the series even more.

The storytelling and the development of the characters are which I find best with the series.

As for the other series, I like TOS, TNG and the first three seasons of Voyager but Enterprise bored me, Discovery is downright lousy and Picard is watchable only because Picard and some TNG characters are in it.

It's not the lizard thing. I'll post it as a topic, including the dialogue that would fix it, and PM you the link.

Some in the middle change according to my mood, but my ranking is currently:
1 TOS/TNG/DS9 (3 way tie)
2 Lower Decks
3 Short Treks
4 Enterprise
5 Voyager
6 TAS
7 Discovery
8 Picard

DS9 definitely had more realism than what came before. I actually think they should have done one or two more seasons showcasing the fallout of the Dominion War. I mean, seriously, it's not like the Federation can sweep it under the rug like nothing happened. There would be a LOT to tell.
