Syboks laugh at the beginning of star trek V

So I watched the final frontier last night for the first time in years, Im wondering what Sybok was actually laughing at, was it a laugh of madness? or was he laughing at the stupid ass grin that guy infront of him had?

Thoughts?

It's probably an out of character moment when he realises how much money he's getting for such an awful script.

I suspect the real reason is he's laughing at the 'simple folk' and how he can use his power over them. That and, you know, he's really cruel and he's laughing at the guy's stupid ass grin

I think he was laughing at J'Onn's amazed reaction to discovering that he's a Vulcan, or maybe at the irony of a Vulcan bringing emotional healing to people.

The laugh (or smile, as per the original script) was put there to signify to the audience that this was no normal Vulcan.

Ok, I just got out the disc and watched this scene because of this thread.

J'onn smiles when he realizes Sybok is a Vulcan. THEN Sybok starts to laugh. Sybok is probably laughing at J'onn catching on to what he was talking about with the strength being within himself, the notion of this quest, and just generally implying that he has plans of how to change things around here.
