Sy-Fy seeks new space opera

I would like to see a Farscape spin-off set in Earths future where humans have built a ship capable of wormhole travel using Crichton's info left on the moon during the last episode. Think of it as an Enterprise done right or like what NuBSG is to Voyager.

Seconded.

Ron Moore's Lost in Space :techman:

-- Will's a young genius, who's borderline homicidal.
-- Doc. Smith is a figment of will's imagination.
-- Penney and Judy fight for the affection of Col. West
-- Col. West is a pissed off loner type that is working for a shadow govt. agency with their own agenda.
-- Prof. Robinson is a recovering drunk, haunted by the fact that it was his wife was killed during the test flight of the Jupiter I..
-- Jupiter II is a run down beaten up heaviyly reworkd testbed ship, the last of the scrapped Jupiter program.
-- B-9 Robot, a product of alien tech and human tech. Apparently can hear or see Doc. Smith as Will can. Harbors deep, deep, resentment of humans.

/me sets DVD recorder for that one...:bolian:

Pick up Virtuality. It's by Ron Moore and he's done your network good. DO IT! Would the show be too expensive for Sy-Fy to produce? I don't think so. In terms of sets, most of the show would probably take place within the same closed interiors -- ala BSG -- with the exception of the VR sequences which can be flexible to what they want to show.
Wow. A show that barely got 2 million viewers and no buzz at all after airing should be picked up by a fledgling network? :wtf: Can't you guys stop worshipping at the altar of RDM even for one rational second?

Actually, we'd just like to see Virtuality.

Which of course can't happen.

We'll get Son of Farscape Featuring No One From The Original or Babylon 5: One More Trip To A Narrow Dry Well.

Why? It wouldn't happen unless that "certain CBS Executive" approved.

Or do we just need a new Designated Ev-eel Villian to blame now that Berman no longer works at Paramount?

I lay blame squarely where it belongs, Dennis. I've never been apart of the vocal fanbase who vilified Berman, Braga or whoever. I'd happily shake the hand of anyone responsible for creating the shows I love and continue to do so on DVD and in reruns.

Nope. You really believe that UPN cancelled Star Trek Enterprise because Moonves "hates science fiction?" :guffaw:

Or that CBS would market and produce a series in spite of the corporation's CEO, thus giving you the hypothetical chance to "see the look on his face" as your post originally stated? :guffaw: :guffaw:

This, and I think when they took a Bobcat to the sets, that made the point clear enough. Any new 'Trek will likely be based around the current movie.

Well, they could always rebuild the sets - but yeah, anything they do now will leverage the huge popularity of the film. Even if they resurrected Enterprise in some form the visuals and tone would be made to reflect the current state of the Franchise.

Well think at it like this: Why rebuild the sets for a failed show (for their POV) when they can build all new and cash in.

That's true, too. Studios resurrect past successes, but very rarely bring back what they considered to be failures unless there's some strong post-cancellation evidence that they misjudged the potential success of the show. Sadly, despite decent ratings on basic cable there's no substantial evidence that the world - or even a majority of the hard-core Trek fanbase - clamor for the return of Enterprise (a series that I really liked).

Since redoing the familiar is the big thing going on, they'll probably just reboot Babylon 5, Andromeda, Earth: Final Conflict, Space: Above and Beyond or something like that.

Firefly -- starring Michael Shanks as Malcolm Reynolds, Carlos Bernard as Jayne Cobb and Moon Bloodgood as Inara Serra.

Well, a reboot worked once, failed a second time. Honestly, they could try a take on a classic idea, but 90s shows aren't old enough, imo, to get rebooted yet anyway. They could make a cool Earth: Final Conflict-esque show if they wanted to, though.

Crazy idea, but here it is. What about a modern more dark take on the classic sci-fi movie THE BLACK HOLE?( Yes the disney flik) :vulcan:
