I guess it WAS the right time for me to buy a Switch 2 now after all, I fully expect for Nintendo to pull a Sony and raise the price for the Switch 2 as well in the near future...
I didn't really want to buy a Switch 2 but then my OG Switch decided to crash on me more and more often and at random during various games, and I became afraid that I wouldn't be able to do the data transfer of my Animal Crossing island if I waited for too long to get a Switch 2 to replace it. So I grudgingly gave in and bought a Switch 2 (the Mario Kart edition).
What can I say... the difference is pretty much non-existent for me as someone who mostly plays on TV (I'm too old for handheld, my neck hurts after five minutes) and who doesn't really care for most third party games on Switch (I mostly use my PS5 for anything non-Nintendo). Animal Crossing New Horizons works the exact same, looks the exact same, only the loading screens are just a tiny bit shorter. I did notice a difference with Hello Kitty Island Adventure, that one runs a LOT more smoothly (it was a real pain sometimes on OG Switch). Mario Kart World is a nice bonus but in no way does this game justify the price tag it has, at least not if you're like me and are a single player who's only there for the racing. It's just Mario Kart with child friendly GTA elements in free roam. I would not have bought this game on its own if it hadn't been part of the bundle.
The good thing is that I'm at least using the Switch 2 every day for my Animal Crossing routine and I didn't lose my OG Switch island because the data transfer went smoothly and was really very non-complicated (well done, Nintendo, given how complicated they sometimes tend to make things this was a very pleasant surprise). I'm waiting for the new Pokémon game now. Maybe that one will impress me on Switch 2. Who knows. For now tho I remain somewhat unimpressed, but eh, we'll see how things go when there's new games that actually interest me.
