What's everyone's take on pricing?

I am curious since i am a PC gamer and the standard for AAA titles is 60-70 €/$ and if you buy older games or through legal third party sellers you can get them for reasonably cheap.

Now prices for console games are at 70-80 bucks ( correct me if i'm wrong) for new titles, are they pricing themselves out of the market? If i had let's say two kids in gaming ages i would be looking at 1000+ just for two consoles and a couple of hundreds every other month for new games, that can add up over the year and i'm not sure all families can afford that.

I feel like making a Switch 2 will end up as a Wii/Wii U situation where the Wii was a beloved console whereas the Wii U wasn't recieved very well. I'm pretty sure the 3DS wasn't well recieved either in comparison to the DS but that one might be wrong (not my opinion on the consoles because I like both the wii u and 3ds) but yeah I don't have too much faith the Switch 2 given my understanding of how re-doing a well-recieved console tends to turn out. I know this is sort of off topic but it's just a thought i had in regards to the switch 2

Finally got to try out a Switch 2 today. Love Mario Kart World. Hate the joycons. Tried getting into the demo with them via the L and R buttons, but the buttons didn't register any presses. Ended up having to use the pro controller. The system hadn't been used much, buttons weren't sticky or mushy. Just defective, joycon wise. And the buttons just seem cheap. Came in 3rd place in the demo race tho, so that was fun.

I don't mind the joycons, at least so far, but I haven't got the new pro controller, only the original one. The original one works with the Switch 2, and so that's helpful for anyone who isn't willing or able to fork out for the new controller.

Ah you're lucky. Heard of some others who are running into non responsive buttons on their joycons, like what I ran into via testing it out at Walmart. The Switch 2 pro controller seems to be built better than the Switch 2 joycons. Similar to the Switch 1 joycons.

To be fair, I would expect the pro controller to be of stronger stuff. The OG pro was certainly easier to use than the OG joycons, and it's the same here. There's something extremely satisfying about snapping the joycons onto the console though

I got the Pro 2 Controller. It is fantastic. Love the feel of the material and the new haptic feedback. It's better than the original Pro, plus it has the headphone jack. I thought the new joy-cons were good, better than the originals, but I find the buttons too small.

It was hard to find a Pro 2 Controller in Canada when I ordered on June 8. No stores have it, and it was out of stock online everywhere including Amazon. I had to follow a guy online who was keeping tabs on stock and I managed to get one from Best Buy after 3 tries and 1 from Amazon, but the Best Buy shipped right away and Amazon said it would be over a week so I cancelled that order. I think the stock disruption is improved now.

I decided to splurge and buy the Switch 2 now rather than later because I think in Canada the price is going to go up in the future. As for expensive games, my feeling is that if I can get it on a cartridge that I can sell when I'm done with the game, then it's an easier pill to swallow. I'll only buy a digital download if it's hugely discounted. Like I found Kooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair for $4.

Yea, but I've had my joycons (my second pair lasted 5 years) work better than the Switch 2 ones. My first set was defective and had input issues after 500 hours of use. These were used less than that and were already running into those problems.

If people are going to pay around $90 for a set, then at least make sure they're made better.

I'll be waiting out for an OLED model with better quality and battery life.
