Extra small condoms for boys as young as 12 could soon be on our shelves.

The Hotshot condoms are going on sale in Switzerland after research found that not enough 12 to 14-year-old boys were having protected sex.

The condoms are likely to end up on sale in Britain, said their manufacturer Lamprecht AG.

A spokesman said the UK would be ‘top priority’ if the company expanded abroad, considering it had the highest teenage pregnancy rate in Europe.

Nysse Norballe said: ‘At the moment we are only producing the Hotshot in Switzerland.

‘But the UK is certainly a very attractive market since there is a very high rate of underage conception.’

A standard condom has a diameter of 52mm in comparison with the Hotshot’s 45mm. Both are the same length – 190mm.

According to a study of 13 to 20-year-olds, a quarter said that a standard condom was too large.

Hilary Pannack, of teenage pregnancy charity Straight Talking Peer Education, said: ‘We know young people are having sex and if this is what it takes to protect them, we need to go along with it.’

I don't think it would be regarded as statutory rape if both partners were close in age. I assume that most of the twelve year old boys are having sex with girls who are 12-14.

Some kids would probably be embarrassed to purchase condoms in the first place, let alone ones that are extra small.

That's got to be an awkward purchase for a thirty-year-old.

"Sir, are you sure you want the condoms designed for twelve-year-old boys?"

"They're just for my own penis! I have a really small dick! I swear!"

Have them walk up & down the desk lines in a peanut vender-like get up, shouting, "Condoms! Get your extra small condoms here! You sir, you look like you need some EXTRA SMALL condoms!".

That's probably the only way those condoms would ever get purchased.

I am sure that some of these condoms might end up being distribute free to those kids that social workers etc know are indulging in sex.

Children having sex isn't anything new. I know of a couple of girls and boys that had sex at 13 or 14 when I was that age almost 40 years ago. It wasn't common but it happened.

Yeah, same here, I can only think of an example or two that I know, but it definitely happens.

I would hope along with those condoms a education on the matter would be top priority, but i certainly would not like those to be a excuse to have sex at that age simply because they are available.

God kids grow up far to quick these days and 12 is just to young in my view, but i do understand the thinking behind them, its a case of your damned if you do and your damned if you don't.

I seriously doubt it says "extra small" on the packaging.
