Saying that providing condoms and contraceptive advice to kids will encourage them to have sex is like saying that teaching teens to use their seatbelts will encourage them to drive recklessly.
They might sell better if they were called "training condoms."

Read it again, i was clearly stating the dangers that could be perceived from the fact that just because condoms are going to be available to 12 year old kids it should not be seen as a end all cure for the problem, nor should it be seen as a approval for underage sex, its not, its making the best of a very bad situation, nothing more.

As I said previously - the number of 12-14 year olds having sex is small and isn't a new thing. The majority of kids today have plenty of time to be kids and aren't being forced to grow up too quickly.
I went to school with a girl who became a mother at 14 (back in 1972). That meant she was having sex at 13 if not earlier. The father of her baby was about a year than she was.

40 years ago when I was a child, children were still regarded children at 12, 13 and 14 and lifespans were not that much shorter than they are today and there were 12-14 year olds in the 1970s who were having sex, just like there were in the 1950s, the 1960s, the 1980s, the 1990s and the whole of this century so far.

Strange everyone watched my friend and his girlfriend have sex in the back of the bus when I was in 5th grade...that puts them at 10 or 11...and she ended up having his baby.
Good thing for them they stayed together...and are still together.

It is...sadly. I didn't see that girl from the end of 5th grade until freshman year of high school...and my friend he was always around.
[edit] I think the parents of the girl took care of the kid until they both graduated H.S. I am sure his parents helped too...he never talked about it much.
