For those who've never read my Sutherland series, I have a different take on Elizabeth Shelby than Peter David does in his novel series. First, I wrote this without even knowing David's work, so my take on her is dramatically different. Liz is a sensualist and a hedonist as well a hard-charging, take no prisoners person who will not let anyone or anything stand in her way. In many ways, she's reminiscent of ancient Roman generals such as Drusus and Germanicus or Napoleonic French field marshals such as Marat in that she's a demon in the center seat of her starship and an utter hedonist when off duty. She's also an incredibly complex character as I hope you'll come to find out through my series. I originally posted this over a decade ago, but I'm revising and re-editing all my old series as well as making new ones. While there is no graphic sex, there is innuendo in much of this series and adult situations (ie: the pajama party in "Messages to Earth") and while I generally use euphemisms for the more blunt four letter words (lots of frinxing and fraking and a few made up words the meanings of which are pretty obvious in context, every once in a while, someone will say something blunt--but it is rare. I hope you like Liz and her crew and friends and will read more. I'm also posting my stories on Ad Astra and you should be able to find them on the United Trek website. So, I hope you enjoy the story.
