Survivor: Samoa

But man… if they only knew what they were starting, ‘ole Erik would probably still be wearing those black knee highs...

:guffaw:

I do kind of think it's awesome the way Natalie was leaning over the edge of the platform, and I wonder what was going through the other team's head in putting John in the platform, surely having John's muscle power pulling the platform and having one of the lighter women on it would've been better strategy.

Wow, that was awesome!! I couldn't stand Laura, very glad she's gone. I don't think she was all that great of a player, especially after hearing her comments after she left. She still hopes a Galu member wins?? Um, hello!! There is no Galu. Two of them are gone (one of them SHE voted out!), and two of them just voted her out! She might as well just say "I want Dave or Brett to win." Why do these people not get that it is an individual game at this point? At least John had some brains to not let it go to the rock of fate. Dave is just stupid for wanting that. If John makes it a tie, there is a 1 in 8 chance of him going home. If John votes for Laura, there is zero chance of him going home. Do the math! Same would be true for Dave, but apparently it never occurred to him.

Russell does look like he's in trouble next week but even if everyone did plan to vote him out, I don't think there's any way that he would not find out about it. He would overhear or suspect something and use his idol. And then his one vote would decide who goes. I feel doubtful that he can win but I do think he can make it through next week.

What an exciting episode.

Why cant you not stand Laura?. Can you explain the reasoning why. Where has Laura done to be disliked. I don't get it. Can it be Laura vs Shambo thing. What i can see it was one way rivalry. Shambo said a lot harsher words toward Laura then Laura ever said about Shambo. Frankly other then calling Shambo a Gilligan for loosing the fishing gear and chicken doesn't justified Shambo hatred toward Laura
Laura comment about hoping for Galu member winning is understandable as she spent 27 days with them. She had a bond with Brett, Dave, Monica and most likely she is referring to those Galu players. She is rooting for the former Galu member that stuck by her. Kudos for her.

Laura is extremely self-centered, conceited and condescending, and she's a Jesus freak. That's why I don't like her. I don't really understand why Shambo has such a hatred for Laura, I'm guessing it must have to do with something in her past; at least there was nothing shown on air that would justify Shambo's behaviour imo. Anyway, Laura also was a lot more stupid than she thinks she is; but then of course there's no way reality could stack up to the high opinion she obviously has of herself.

I agree, Laura is very conceited. On screen she just seemed like a very rude and self-centered person. I don't care about the whole Shambo conflict, I don't like Shambo a ton either. It's just the way Laura acted around camp, around other people, very stuck up.

I have always disliked the whole bigger tribe sticking together at the merge and getting off the smaller tribe. First of all, it makes for incredibly boring TV. Second, it ignores the fact that there are no two separate tribes anymore, there is only one and it is an individual game. It's always good to have people on your side who you know will vote with you, but why do those people automatically have to be your old tribemates? Maybe they aren't the best people to align with, maybe it would be a more strategic move to align with someone else. But people, like Laura, stick with their old tribe because of emotional attachment, a "we're still better than them, they're losers" type of attitude. But there is no more "we," there is only "I" in this game.

The "Bigger Tribe's" (sorry, I still get their names confused) bigges fault -and this goes back to "Good Russell" a bit- was making Shambo an outcast. Yeah she's a bit of an idiot and maybe deserved it a bit for losing the fishing gear and the chicken but the days she spent ousted to the other tribe gave her opportunity to bond with them, form an alliance with them, and she made the "Smaller Tribe" go into the merge with one more person on their side than one would be led to believe.

Aligning with Shambo has for the most part saved the "Smaller Tribe's" ass.

Just watched the last two Survivors and what happened to the fire making challenge. That seems like the best way to break a tie and I'm surprised they didn't have it this last time. Great episode though. Loving how Foa Foa has just really come back and pretty much taken the lead. The reactions to TC were awesome.

Despite that it looks highly suspicious and in the back of my mind I'm kinda wondering.... I doubt the producers are "helping" Russell find the idols. I don't think they even can do that as I'm fairly certain that there's certain rules and regulations "governing" competitive shows that makes those sort of things impossible to do. That's to say, Survivor's producers can't legally manipulate the game like that.

I dont know about that, I know that they have had professional actors on the show.

Everyone on Galu made fun of and excluded Shambo, not just Laura. Russell S. sent her to Foa Foa twice because she lost the chicken. Erik and John had no respect for her rightfully so, the woman is delusional. Shambo would go into argument blaming Laura things she didn't do. In on case she accused Laura of something in front of tribe and Dave stood up said. Shambo it wasn't Laura it was ME:lol:.

As far as people hating on Laura I still just don't get it. I hope it is not just because she religious person or Jesus freak as Roger called her. The woman may come off as a tad obnoxious but in my opinion she's just a very self confident woman and I respect that.
Russell is a creepy bully and didn't like that Laura told him off about his lack of power. Power he never would have acquired if not for the infinite cycle of idols placed at his feet by the producers.

I liked Laura, because i respect that this injured (slightly torn achilles) 40 year old mother of three was a challenge beast. She was clearly the best social player on her tribe and was the de facto leader of Galu even when Russell S. was there. I thought I was going to dislike this woman because I usually don't like having religious people in Survivor but Laura is badass. She's outspoken and confident to the point of being cocky and hates Russell the creepy midget but the best part she wasn't preachy. How can we not root for her over bully creepy Russell.

I didn't even know Laura was religious so that doesn't bother me. I think your point that she is confident to the point of being cocky is absolutely correct and why I don't like her. Cocky is never a good thing in my book, it's just irritating to watch and shows that she thinks more highly of herself than she really should.

One reason I don't see Russell as a creepy bully is because although he does some sneaky stuff to his tribemates, he is always honest with us, the audience. That is refreshing after watching some of these people (Coach is a good example) not only lying and acting crazy toward their tribemates but doing the same in their confessionals. At least Russell is honest and aware that he's being a jerk to people. Laura, on the other hand, was a jerk to people but doesn't think she is, and that's way more annoying to me.

QFT (good or bad)

The thing that bothered me most about Laura (and yes, the religion was an issue for me too - she's proud of "studying" at Liberty University for fuck's sake...) was that she doesn't give anybody any credit for anything, except the people she likes.
-Right, Brett is playing the best game there - how strange that the viewers on tv barely know he even exists... I guess colluding with people before starting the game wasn't that much use for you, hm?
-You are so awesome for winning the first two individual immunities - who cares that the first one was seperated between women and men and was a total crapshoot, and that you won the second only because Russell was posing for the cameras and Shambo is a retard
-Sure, Galu kicked Foa Foa's butt in the challenges, but how many of them did you even participate in? And if you participated in the challenge, do you really think your part was more valuable than anyone else's on the team
-and she's so stupid that she still doesn't really realise what a monumental mistake it was to get rid of Erik

Russell was doing a lot then just some sneaky stuff Spot´s Meow. He was sabotaging his own Foa Foa tribe when he should trying make it stronger and not the other way around. He was also saying some heinous lie like he was a victim of hurricane Katrina. He was making alliances left to right and quite frankly he was overplaying. This why he had vote out strong females like Marisa and Betsy because they figured out he was untrustworthy. When tribe merges he repeats his stupid game play again. Pissing people off.

Roger, You got a give credit when credit is due(i hope i said that right.) Challenge win is a challenge win. It shouldn't matter if they separated between women and men. She was playing with torn Achilles crying out load.
Strange. I always saw Laura as team player for Galu nothing more. When the tribe had to pick woman to lead, they usually picked Laura. So i don't get what you are getting at. Laura was viewed by the tribe as the strongest woman. She wasn't saying it, the tribe was minus Shambo of course.
Defiantly you have valid point that it was mistake voting out Eric. Laura has admitted that in post game interviews. However hindsight 20/20 is always a good thing. Eric was targeting Monica(John plan) one of Laura closet ally.
However this wasn't the monumental mistake in the game that cost Laura the game. It was the producer for doing so bad job in hiding the idols. It is almost they wanted Russell to find it, especially the second idol was very suspicious how quick Russell found it without a clue. Survivor Samoa is quickly turning into the Russell show.

Anyway Laura is gone so it will be interesting what will happened next. It seems John and Shambo has some sort of a agreement as John did stood up for her when Yasmin was votes out and both wanted Laura out. Can John pull Shambo with remaining Galu together and blindside Russell or will she stick with Foa Foa. Shambo would be a idiot letting all Foa Foa member make it to the final 5. They would vote her out eventually. She need to stick with John.

I do, she definitely was a very physically strong player, and probably mentally too although that didn't have much effect yet. But it's not like winning two immunity challenges is such a "historic" Survivor feat as she made it out to be. I was especially puzzled by her claim she was voted out because of the two challenges when in reality she would have been voted out earlier had she not won. But whatever. If she manages to set her hurt feelings aside and make an objective decision at the final tribal council, I'll have more respect for her.

Ok, I rewatched this past eps this morning, and I have to say, that Russell's group is much tighter in playing the game right now than is being let on.

If you watched, the former Foa members started to chip away and play monica the min they were back at camp. It was almost like there was a plan in place that whoever went back to camp would "work" the galu players the way they did.

And, Russell shared the HII clue with them the second he got back, and they all (except nat) started looking for it. They also helped break up the Galu players to afford Russell the opportunity to cut his tale.

Russell made the foa stronger as a group because he took out those that he did. Russell is a smart player.

Bumped...

Anyone watch the thanksgiving "secrets" episode?

My local station didn't air Surivior last night at its usual time and instead aired the local "news" of the lighting of the Plaza Lights.

They re-aired it sometime late lastnight. I didn't bother.

So, apparently, Russell was stupid enough to tell somebody about his high-paying oil tanker career. Luckily, he happened to be talking to an anesthesiologist, but it was still a dumb move. He has a tendency not to be able to keep his mouth shut. Though, he can rationalize it in this case, and it might turn into a net positive (might).

Apparently, the Survivor editors were stupid enough to let the audience know about their manipulation of the video. First, we get Jaison saying (in a previous episode) about how disappointed he was in himself, and the editors make us think he's talking about his physical actions during the challenge. Now, we get an extended version of his comments, and it turns out that he wasn't talking about anything he did physically. He was disappointed in himself for something entirely different. Editors, if you're planning to distort reality, you might want to leave out of the real version from the clip show episode.

We continue to get a fuller picture of the insanity that is Shambo. Yikes. That one's a real emotional wild card.
