Survivor: Redemption Island Discussion (Spoilers)

I've never understood that argument about who "needs" it more. That shouldn't be relevant to the game, IMO. Outwit, Outplay, Outlast... Out-poor? The only worse argument is who "deserves" to be in the game, aka the "good people" argument (that one comes up a lot on Big Brother).

But in this case, I don't think anyone cared. Rob was a shoe-in, considering the "competition" in the final TC.

Probably nobody cared yes, and it's not like Phillip and Natalie appeared to be destitute or anything (and anyway, Phillip could run a hospital for orphans suffering from leukemia in Africa and he still wouldn't have gotten the money), but apparently we only see a fraction of what really goes on at TC. Anyway, I thought Rob was being somewhat hypocritical talking about how he wants to win for his family and all that crying blabla, I mean, his wife already got a million, he's been on a dozen other reality tv shows, his wedding was shown live etc and none of that happened for free I'm sure. If he just gets a real job and works like any other man, his family will be fine with or without Survivor.

I actually agree, but at least it was an argument. Natalie could have claimed she needed the money for college, or to pay off her family's mortgage, or that she wasn't a big celebrity like Rob, or whatever. That had to have been better than "Er, I'm young and I'm here and I was smart enough to do what Rob told me . . . ."

Also, maybe it's the writer in me, but I'm always amazed at how many survivors don't seem to prepare any sort of TC speech in advance and just try to wing it instead. "Um, I think I played a good game and I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings . . ."

I mean, you know you're going to have to present some sort of opening statement. Maybe you should spend the afternoon rehearsing it in your head?

Are there spoilers/rumours yet who the two returnees are?

I haven't heard any.

I'm still puzzled over the casting notice that was sent out several weeks ago, when the producers were looking for a Matt look-a-like for the finale. Though he'd had a haircut, that was Matt in the studio, so what was that all about?

Great win by Rob, I'm hard pressed to think of a more flawless game played by anyone else. He deserved it.

That final Tribal Council was all sorts of hilarious, with Nat and Phillip basically telling everyone how great Rob was. To see him sitting in the middle of those two shitbombs he brought to the final is just a testament to how well he played the game.

The best was Phillip arguing with one of the Jury (Ashley I think?). Seriously dude? :guffaw:

I liked the Redemption twist this season - I'm a lover of challenges ,which it provides more of, and it really does have the potential to turn the game upside down. If Rob didn't have immunity, Andrea, Nat and Ashley could have blindsided him big time when Andrea re-entered the game. Saying that, I wouldn't mind a return to the norm after next season, mix it up a bit.

Unsure I like the thought of adding two more former players in the next season - after everyone sees how well Rob played the game and what they did to Russell, they're likely to be the first people voted out. However, if it's Amanda I'll be stoked! So hawt.

What I think would be hilarious is if they brought Phillip back for a future season and he ended up playing a totally different game, being much more calm and reasonable and not completely alienating everybody else.

I haven't watched the whole show yet, but I caught Probst's closing remark about verifying that he was a federal agent. Did they also verify the medal he bragged about?

Survivor has really turned me off with this need to drag players from previous series' back. Either do another All-Stars or get some new, interesting people to entertain me.

It's no suprise that Rob won. While I don'tlike Rob, obviously amongst the three, he deserved to win. I think everything said by the jury was absolutely true and funny. Rob is a dirty player, but Russel is the true villian. I'm glad Zapatera's move to get Russel out came back to bite them in the ass. Of all the seasons of Survivor, I think this Ometepe tribe must be the stupidest group I've ever seen. For the third season in a row the people I was rooting for didn't win, but at least some coat tail riding girl didn't win. I have a feeling Matt will be on the next season and maybe Russel, but more likely Phillip or just someone from another season. I'm pretty sure Matt will be on though, it seems like Jeff was pulling for him. I could see Phillip bieng on just to stir up drama. So in the final analysis, Rob's tribe handed him the win from day one, they were too stupid to move against him, but Rob did play an excellent game, even though he is a dick. I hope they continue to use Redemption as a part of the game in some way or another.
