SURVIVOR NICARAGUA Running thread, commentary, etc. (Spoilers)

Not that there were any better options, but that douchebag idiot who got the world's dumbest nickname based on the vaguest of physical similarities wins it all? :rolleyes:

Man. He should've lost based on him crying over not getting to see his mommy a couple episodes ago a lone.
 
I didn't watch the finale (Lost interest in this season before Marty was voted off) but I did watch the reunion show and there was one thing that I took away from it. I wonder what the CBS executives were thinking when Jeff was talking to Terry Bradshaw and saying "We love watching you every week." It seemed kind of awkward that NFL on Fox was being promoted on CBS. :lol:

I'm interested in the Redemption Island concept but I'm still a little confused about something? Does this double the length of the season because they will have players coming back each week? So like after the first two weeks, you have one player coming back after winning the challenge to rejoin the game. So in a two week span, one person gets voted off and that happens every week? How do the numbers go down in a lengthy period of time?
 
As I understand it, only one person will be coming back to the game, at some unspecified point late in the season. Cast-offs will compete to be the last one standing at Redemption Island so that they, and they alone, will be the one to return.

You're not going to have a steady stream of returnees.

So there's a chance (And I read an article about this just now on a site) that someone might be on Redemption Island by him/herself for a really long period of time? That might be interesting for the psyche as well as the physical aspect. They needed to do something to shake up the show, and I got to give them credit for doing just that, as well as making a proclimation last night that if you quit, there will be consequences since Jeff and the rest of the staff on Survivor took a lot of heat over that controversy.
 
Glad Fabio won... didn't like any of the other players since maybe Marty, and even that's a stretch. Sash was the only one with a game, but he sucked. Chase was indeed as dumb as a bag of rocks, and annoying and self-righteous as well. Screw him. And :guffaw: at his song. Wow, G, Cadd9 and D. Never saw that before! And I'm sure that performance was completely spontaneous at the behest of Jeff. :lol:

Also the crazy old bat makes $50k a year? In North Carolina? That actually sounds pretty solid. I thought she'd be making like $18k with all the whining about money going on.

Oh well. This was probably the worst Survivor cast in recent memory. I didn't click on the Redemption Island spoilers, but the 'twist' didn't really sound that interesting to be honest.

She has a farm. $50k to run a farm isn't that much. She didn't say that was NET.

I think most people would assume that she was talking NET (unless specified otherwise).

Side note: According to that interview (linked up-thread): Fabio thinks Alina and Brenda only voted for Chase because they thought Chase wouldn't get any votes and felt sorry for him...

Edit #2: Wow. I'm watching the last few Ponderosa videos, and Holly was only greeted by Alina and (somewhat reluctantly) Brenda. I guess she wasn't that big of a threat after all...

I don't get what people liked about Jane either. At first she was just there, kind of boring, but as the season went on she started to exhibit that "holier-than-thou," "I'm a Southern gal which makes me better than you in every way" kind of attitude. It was annoying to say the least. When she stayed in that challenge to beat the guys even after she had already won as the last woman standing, it really irritated me. She felt that she just HAD to prove how much better than everyone she was, and I just kept thinking, get over yourself! She seems like the type of person who, in real life, holds grudges for a long time and can be a cocky, vindictive woman.
 
I went back and forth on Jane. One had to admire her spirit and stamina, especially at her age. It was great to see her sledding down the volcano with the younger folks.

But, yeah, she had a definite chip on her shoulder when it came what perceived as no-good city slickers. Look at all the venom she directed at Marty, then later at Sash. I never did figure out who really started the feud between Marty and Jane. She clearly thought that he regarded her as a hick, but was Marty really radiating that or was she just projecting? It was hard to tell.

Ugh.

The former I loathe to no end. The latter I don't mind too much and enjoyed his antics but he's played! This will be what 3 out of the last 4 seasons he was in?! Ugh.

I may skip this one.

He generally comes across as a douche onscreen, but I had the opportunity to meet him a few years ago and he's a pretty decent guy when the cameras aren't rolling.
 
I always liked Boston Rob. His accent is annoying, but otherwise :techman:

Russell, on the other hand, I've little interest in seeing again. I didn't hate him or anything, but enough is enough.
 
Actually the more I think about it, the more I like having Russell again because I want to see if he has the ability and willingness to change. He couldn't do that last time because he didn't know how the jury in season 19 felt about him, I think he was very confident he had won that season, so it makes sense that he did the same things again. Now we'll see if there's more to him; I kind of doubt it but it's not impossible...
 
^I would like to see either that, or perhaps they finally chose the kind of cast that is strategy intensive and appreciates Russell's style of game play.

I'm actually really hoping that this season the contestants are smarter and more strategy driven, because that was severely lacking in this past season. The cast was just so boring. There have been some really strategic and cutthroat seasons in the past, so I know it's possible, and I'm really hoping to see it again.
 
I have this sneaky suspicion that they are grooming Boston Rob as a potential host. Here's why:

- Jeff loves him
- Jeff had him throw to commercial during the reunion
- He's got TV experience
- He was writing a blog this past season
- He's coming back on the show one more time

I don't know. I may (hope to?) be wrong. I like Rob, but don't really want him to host.
