SURVIVOR NICARAGUA Running thread, commentary, etc. (Spoilers)

Hey gang!

So tomorrow marks the return of Survivor and more importantly, Jeff Probst.

This year it's in Nicaragua and the tribes are split in to young vs old. There's also a celebrity (in my books at least) contestant this year, Jimmy Johnson!

I stopped watching Survivor for some time but that Heroes Vs. Villans really got me back in to it. So here's to hoping it's just as good, if not better this season.

The cast:

Dibs on the one bottom right, second in beside Jimmy.

Enjoy the season!

I've never heard of Jimmy Johnson but the cast does look sort of interesting. The young versus old thing, might be cool, might be lame, it's hard to tell at this point. It is an issue that comes up every season, wanting to get rid of the "old people" because they aren't as athletic and don't fit in as well with the youngsters. But with their own tribe they won't have to worry about fitting in with a young crowd until at least the merge.

I think this season will be entertaining. As good as last season? Probably not, but still good enough.

He's an NFL coach and has won 2 Super Bowls - you can see him every Sunday on Fox breaking down games. Apparently he was a huge fan and really wanted to be on the show and after trying once before, finally made the cut this time around.

If Jimmy Johnson is supposed to be the big draw this year (he has been in every commercial I've seen), then this season is in trouble.

A lot of reality shows have been going down the way of tacky season premises, like Big Brother's X Factor or Survivor's own breaking the tribes down by the races in Ozzy and Yul's season.

I'll be watching, but I have a feeling this twist will be overhyped, Jimmy will go home week one or two and the season will be as bland as ever.

Survivor: Nicargura - Discussion/Spoilers.

Survivor: Nicaragua starts tonight before the Season Finale of Big-Brother. We will use this thread to discuss and spoil the events of the series.

This season's twit? It's "Old vs. Young." In one of the commercials Jeff has the persons under 30 and younger go to one group and the persons over 40 go into another. Meaning that, by Survivor's standards, I'm neither young nor old. :wtf:

Also of note this season is a young woman with an artificial leg. Should be interesting so get your buffs and your torch snuffer ready for Survivor: Nicaragua! Also of note is a woman on the show with local (to me) connections.

Also of note is, on the first page ... this thread.

Did you even bother looking before posting this? Obviously not.

^ Yeah I don't really see Jimmy or any other of the old folks going all that far. Maybe there'll be a denture cleaning competition, wheelchair race or a tip calculating contest though, who knows.

We say that now, but we also know that the younger kids will all attack each other and take the old people they "can beat" to the finals.

So Survivor is split into 30 & under and 40 and older.

I'm 33 am I not supposed to watch this season? ;)

First person voted of Survivor: Nicaragua:

Wendy Jo. I think she "talked" her way into this, blabber mouth.

Yeah, if there was anyone teetering between her and someone else before Tribal, I think her little speech there pretty much decided it for them. Like Tyrone mentioned.

I'm not too sure about this group so far. Nobody's really caught my interest yet.

Wendy's rambling at tribal council certainly didn't help her, but I have a feeling most players made up their minds beforehand and her babbling just made the vote more lopsided.

Not sure why Holly was so hell-bent on making an alliance with Wendy that quickly. It's pretty risky to do that before you have a chance to feel people out. And admitting at tribal council that she made an alliance she would probably have to break was kind of stupid- kind of indicates to the team that she's not all that trustworthy.

I'm not too impressed with the older tribe- so far I haven't seen a lot of the wisdom that's supposed to come with age.

All in all, an okay start. Not sure I care for the young vs. old gimmick, though.

Now that I've seen it twice, I have to say ... There's not one person on the younger tribe that stands out as being likable. They come across as exceedingly dumb (especially "Fabio"), and I think being on a tribe with that group would make me want to start knifing people.

As for the older tribe ... I don't believe that Jimmy guy for a second. He says he wants to be there and help others, but not win. I call bull on that. Nobody wants to play and then just say "Oh, a million bucks? You can keep it."

There's one woman on the older tribe that ... well, I don't think she should be there. No idea what her name is. She's brunette, with long hair, and she looks like she's in her mid-20s, yet they're all supposed to be 40+ ... There's no way she looks like she's in her 40s.

I've heard three spoilers so far. One of them turned out to be completely bogus - they were doing away with hidden immunity starting this season. That one went out the window.
Supposedly, the theme of next season is "Russell vs. Boston Rob" with those two returning, as tribe leaders, with the rest being new people.

The third spoiler I've heard isn't about the game itself.
Supposedly, Jeff Probst's contract is up, and he's ready to move on for good. He'll be there for the reunion of this one and the next season, but that's it. The producers have already decided on the new host, and that person will be announced during next season's reunion.

Good grief, I couldn't believe Wendy could NOT shut up. She really... oy.

Hell, *I* wanted to vote her off.

Not sure I like that angry older guy who seems to have it out for Jimmy J just because *JJ* is a bigger potential leader than he is. I swear I could smell the rivalry through the screen.

I know, I said, "Well, she's gone. Hell, she just wrote her own name on the parchment." When she interrupted Jeff's "go vote" lead in with a, "I need to say something else!"

There's a real white trash theme going on with the older tribe, I like it.

Wendy was bantha fodder, I knew she'd be the first to go when I saw her. Jimmy's got an interesting take on how a jury wouldn't select him, but I think that's BS - who knows who he could be up against in the final and what will happen between now and then. Looks like he wont' make it that far though.

You have to respect the girl with one leg, but everyone is dead right that she's the biggest sympathy vote that Survivor has ever seen, hell if I was up against her I'd tell everyone to vote for her.

The best line was "how do you tell it to work?" from Fabio. I like that mimbo, he cracks me up.

So far so good, I'm liking what I see and I think it's gonna get pretty nasty.
