Survivor Gabon - Commenatry Thread

Yeah, I agree that the final tribal council sucked. The questions really weren't that great or insightful. And the answers really weren't that good either.

And what was up with there being no endurance challenge at the end? I'm kind of glad there wasn't because it meant Bob could win more easily (though he didn't win the challenge they did have so it probably wouldn't have made a difference). But it seemed a little weird that they didn't have an endurance.

I thought that was odd too, as that's what usually comes after the "memory walk."

Loved Sugar's "tribute" to Randy during that, too.

Oh, I'm going to miss her. She did look fabulous during the reunion show, though. :)

Glad that Bob won, but part of me was rooting for Sugar at the end as well. Anybody but Susie.

Susie didn't deserve any votes, and the fact that she received three votes shows just how petty and immature some of the jury members were. I was expecting Bob to win handily, but I thought Sugar would get at least one or two votes. With the answers she gave at the final tribal council, she might have blown any chance of snagging a vote.

None of the finalist did well in the final questioning, but with some of the comments and questions that were thrown at them, they really didn't have much of a chance to persuade the jury anyway. Corrine's comments were way out of line. It's one thing to call people out on how they played the game, but what she did seemed like a contrived attempt to get a little more publicity. Rather pathetic, if you ask me.

It wouldn't have made a difference in how she fared, but I have to give credit to Sugar for forcing a tie and giving Bob a chance to make it to the finals. I don't think she did it as a strategic move (as others have said, she seemed to be playing emotionally), but it was kind of a gutsy move: There was no guarantee that forcing the tie wouldn't have put herself at risk as well.

I agree with Jeff - Corrine's comments during the final vote were the cruelest words ever spoken on Survivor. Corrine is one cold, ugly shrew. It takes a heart of coal to speak like that about someones father who has passed. She deserved to get boo'd; she deserved the "fuck you, bitch" Sugar gave her. I've never seen anyone who reveled so thoroughly in their evil, attention-whoredom as Corrine. Have a nice life - and I only hope I never hear of her again

It was a pleasure to see Bob win this thing. His clever pack-rattery and unique home-spun skills seem to have been the nuts and bolts of an inspiring victory. He won this thing the old fashioned way - he was old, and he fashioned great things out of little nothings. He is everything Corrine is not: he is a humble, thoughtful winner.

We believed prior to the vote that Bob and Sugar would nearly tie, but that Suzie would take probably 2 votes for sure. So we were quite shocked that Sugar took no votes at all. But it sounds like she has experienced some real life notoriety since the show ended and maybe that will lead to something good for her.

As a couple others mentioned above, Sugar looked amazing at the reunion, like she'd stepped right out of the '30s or '40s. I was rooting for her, but Bob was deserving I think. It sucked that he also won the $100,000 though; I would have liked Sugar to get that, at least.

Next season's locale looks good too, and I'm glad they're sticking with the non-island venue. We've had enough of those. It was a refreshing change this season to have those wide-open African plains instead of tropical jungles, beaches and water as far as the eye can see.

It was really silly to me that Bob, winner of the $1m also got the fan-favorite win too. Since he won the $1m it should've defaulted to the second-place winner (Sugar.)

I was glad that Bob won. I was scared that Susie was going to take it when she got her third vote. She didn't deserve any, but obviously a few of the jury members really held a grudge. Sugar sure didn't seem to do anything that really warranted such bitterness. Certainly, she did a great job of playing the game the last half of the eps.

Corinne...boy, what an ugly, ugly person she is. I just can't imagine saying such nasty things to somebody like she did.

Why? There's reality-TV show precedent for it (I believe both Stephanie Izzard on Top Chef and Christian Siriano on Project Runway did the same thing), and he did win both fairly.

I'm glad Bob won. He reminds me of my high school AP Chem teacher.

He was my high school physics teacher. Nice guy. Really weird, always went off on tangents about the craziest subjects, but a nice guy. Glad he won. Pretty slick with the fake idols, too.

Sugar looked great. No wonder she's a pin-up girl. I'd paint her on my bomber anytime.

Well my thoughts after watching the final and reunion show i have to say i am little sad that Sugar who played the best game didn't get any votes and put salt on injury Bob won fan-favorite award also.
I suspect bitter jury with Corrine making sure that nobody was going to give Sugar any vote because she outplayed, outwitted and outlasted her.
Bob seems to be a good guy but his game plan was poor. His status in original 5 man Kota alliance was last place. He was extra vote noting more.
After the merge he won three Immunity challenges when he needed it and build pretty good fake immunity idol. Only reason Bob made to the final was because of Sugar. Sugar was still grieving her father and she saw a father figure in Bob. Sugar knew she didn't have a change to win against so bitter jury so she wanted Bob to win.
Bod didn't win a million bucks. Sugar gave Bob a million bucks..

I think everyone is overlooking Bob's game. He didn't just pull off a fake immunity idol, he pulled off two.

I only wished he called Kenny out for trying to back stab him with the offer to give him the immunity.

He did, and Kenny KEPT LYING about having tried to blindside Bob.

Either Kenny really is a slimy liar, or he's in serious denial.

Personally, I think he's a slimy liar who is in serious denial.

I'm glad Bob won as well, I wasn't able to watch the last show but I'm looking forward to watching it my DVR later.:techman:

Main reason Bob made the first fake immunity idol was after Marcus was voted off and he would be next. So he made fake one hoping it would protect him. Wrong because Bob didn't realize that Sugar still had the real immunity idol and people in her alliance would know that Bob immunity idol was fake.
After the merge, Susie won immunity so if they wanted they could have voted Bob out instead off Charlie. Strategically first fake immunity idol was useless for Bob. It wasn't until Sugar asked Bob to give it to Randy so they could play joke on Randy.

Regarding Kenny trying to back stab Bob. Bob did call him out. Kenny kept lying so i was glad he was voted out. Personally i think Kenny got over cocky at the end.

Dude, that's kind of... creepy.

... Oh! You mean like in a WW-2 fashion where pilots painted pin-up girls on their planes.

Nevermind, I got confused.

Yep. I don't even know how the other way would work, but you're right, it sounds creepy from that angle.

Pfft. Like you'd be the first guy to paint a picture on his cock of a girl he likes.
