Survivor 41

Since Xander outright said it was a fake and nobody tried to play it, Jeff wouldn't have had any reason to verify if it was or wasn't. Even if it was real and nobody tried to play it, he wouldn't have had a reason.

Jeff only has to verify an idol's authenticity if someone tries to play it.
Yeah I think we're both talking about the same thing, I just initially worded my assertion poorly

I think it would have been a great move he hadn't divulged that the idol was fake and gave it to her, and then she went through the game thinking she had a real idol, only to be told it was fake by Jeff at a later date when she tried to use it

That would have been an all time moment

Yep. There are quite a number of unpleasantly cocky players this season, and the one who got voted out this time will not be missed (by me, anyway).

It would also have been hilarious if she'd asked Evvie, since they expected that he would give it to her. Letting Tiffany hang on to it was unexpected.

Survivor spoiler speculators on Reddit just had their figurative tea tables flipped (kudos to anybody who gets the reference) with tonight's episode*, and so now nobody seems to know what's going on.

*
A significant chunk of Survivor Reddit posters from two different subs were convinced that Tiffany was this season's winner

Hopefully nobody bet too much money on it.

Yeah, this was not what I was expecting. But if Evvie hadn't won immunity, it would probably have been her time to be voted out.

Please let Shan be next, and then that put-the-woman-in-her-place guy whose name I haven't bothered to remember. They're both obnoxious.

Xander... you really missed an opportunity there. I wonder if it will be available for anyone else.

I just learned Heather existed in yesterday's episode. Now I know everyone.

Tiffany was a middling player, it made sense for her to be the target. I think I'm rooting for Naseer and Xander at this point.

I think Xander was not allowed to say "Yes" if he didn't have the idol, he must answer it honestly.

But I wonder if he could have gotten away with saying "No" with a sarcastic tone and then handing it over. He technically followed the rules and just gave a misleading impression.

Naseer might be good at keeping people fed, but he's an aggressive player who needs to go sooner rather than later.

Yeah, Heather was/is rather forgettable. It's amazing how quick this bunch is to turn on each other. It seems as though just breathing at the wrong time will garner suspicion and aggression from the others.

It seems as though the Ponderosa videos won't be on YouTube. I saw a comment that they're only being shown on CBS or Paramount or some pay site.

In which case, it's a big "fuck you" to Canadian viewers who can't access those.

After tonight's episode, there's one person left that I want to see win the game, and one person that I'm not necessarily rooting for but whom I'd be okay with winning: Ricard (my preferred winner) and Xander (the person I'd be okay seeing sin).

Anybody else winning would cause me to view this season as ultimately a disappointment.

It's the reverse for me. Of the ones who are actively playing (Heather is just coasting), I want Xander to win. Then I'd want Erika, then I'd be okay with Ricard, since he's not as obnoxious as the others. Liana and Shan can go anytime, with their "let me hold that for you" BS with the idols and advantages.

I'm guessing that Xander didn't play his idol for Evvie due to her big mouth letting others know he had it, and realizing that saving others is not likely to help himself, as reciprocity doesn't seem to be part of this season.

One of the big reasons I'm actively rooting for Ricard to win is the fact that he and I have something in common: we're both completely deaf in one ear (the right ear). I've also been impressed, for the most part, by his gameplay, although he really needs to cut ties with Shan like yesterday.

I’m not sure Xander knew the vote wasn’t on Liana. But it’s also questionable whether it’d be the right move for him. I guess, knowing what alliances there are, one more ally is probably better for him than one free tribal.

His only real shot is to peel off Shan’s annoyed allies.

I’m wondering why Shan used her extra vote to vote against herself, just idol anxiety?

Did she?

Why force a tie though? What does that gain her?

I think she was worried about Naseer playing an idol and wanted to protect against the possibility of him conspiring with Heather.
I have no idea what nutty ideas go through her head. I find her extremely unlikable, and the sooner they get rid of her, the better.

Not that I'm upset about Naseer going. I don't like him, either.

Several of the Survivor commenters I listen to are convinced that Shan using her Extra Vote was a scheme that she and Ricard concocted, but I personally think that they're going to be disappointed to learn that it wasn't.

The Sole Survivor Pod hosts ended up being right about Ricard convincing Shan to play her Extra Vote, so good for tbem.

I said after last week's episode that a Ricard win is the only thing that will make this season satisfactory for me, and I stand by that even more now after this week's episode.

I missed part of Tribal Council due to dozing off during the commercial. But at least I had the pleasure of seeing that awful woman voted out. And hopefully we never need to hear her moronic little "musical theme" ever again.
