Surely something good happened to you today

I got ten new members on my Facebook page, got a warm message from a friend, realised my finger had finally healed enough to play guitar, saw my new foster child take his first step, received a new ‘cat tree’ in the post for my cats and found some chocolate hidden in the freezer behind the peas.

My $1200 Economic Impact Payment check finally arrived in the mail. Supposedly it was sent out on May 1. The Postal Service must have delivered it by pack mule.
You're lucky. I'm beginning to think I'll never get mine. As an SSI recipiant, I expected it to be direct deposited by now, but no such luck.

I took my car out for a spin--- need to drive it once in awhile to keep the battery alive. Picked up a sandwich at Jimmy John's drive-thru, and walked through a Kohl's. It was weird ---hardly anyone in the whole store. I was looking to buy a particular item but it's something I really needed to try on and fitting rooms are closed for the time being. I figured I could do without it and just went home.

It was good to get out and drive around, spend a little time alone rocking out to my favorite radio station.

Came home and got some housekeeping done while hubby works in his office.

I've been playing a lot of guitar lately during lockdown
My fingers are fucking killing me

I accidentally rammed a screwdriver through my index finger last week. I usually play guitar everyday. I’m glad to be playing again.
Have you been playing long?

I'm a 59 year old who never picked up a guitar till I was 53 (well apart from six months as a 13 year old)
I class myself as a learner, though maybe intermediate learner. Used to go to rehearsal studios every week with some like minded individuals of all ages and similar abilities, recorded some songs that I'd written, but had a slight disagreement with some of them and didn't go back. It's very difficult to play on my own now, although lockdown has improved my ability, some days. Still try and write and record (very raw demos) but it's difficult. I've never played a gig and frankly I've missed that boat anyway due to my years.
Sounds fucking horrendous that injury of yours.

I’ve been playing since 89 and did tours and shows in my twenties but now I spend most of my time writing and telling myself I’ll record them someday. Hasn’t happened yet though.

It’s good to hear you keep playing though. Unfortunately as far as sore fingers the only way out is through.

I enjoyed when we played in our kinda learners band, it was great fun, but to play for other people would be very difficult for me
Not unless they turned my amp down and surrounded me with geniuses to disguise any bum notes.
The two sessions in the recording studio were amazing, the engineer guy was very on board.
First day we played three takes at three tracks, live, and he pieced the best parts together.
Second day he got us to layer the tracks individually, but spent too much time fucking around on sundry stuff like lead guitar leaving limited time for acoustic guitars and vocals, still enjoyed it though.
And he actually made us sound like a band.
Although we did have a real drummer.

Sounds like a fun time. Social politics are always tricky in bands. I’ve seen my fair share of implosions.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve performed. After bands I did a few acoustic sets in cafes but now in deep in marriage and kids. It’s tricky. We always have recording studios and home recording though.

I prefer to play on my acoustic for the most part, some days I think I'm not bad, others I feel like packing it in.
Wish I'd learned when I was a young man.
