Surely something good happened to you today

Found in my parents' attic an autographed book that I was certain was lost forever, turns out it was just misplaced. I am not a big fan of autographs in general but this one is linked to a particularly moving memory of my early teenage years. For some reason during my visit to my parents' home I felt the desire to take a look in the attic... and voila!:)

Depends how you look at it.

I'm on a pretty intense Ironman training program, so I was planning both to do an hour and a half swim and hour hill run today. And I was planning on maybe walking around in Downtown Boston in between.

I woke up this morning feeling not quite sick, but really tired and lacking of energy with a mild headache and with a sore knee, so instead of all that I ended up sitting at home watching TV, defeating my rationalizations for going to a bar.

But, I started watching both Counterpart and The Man In The High Castle. Which is a good thing.

Replaced a light bulb and it's not dimming anymore. Was a bit worried about it. So it's one thing off my mind now.

Couldn't get the coffee pot to work this morning (not pilot error). Turned it on and off several times, unplugged it a couple of times; the controls showed everything okay, but no heating and dripping of water. Unplugged it and went on with the day without coffee. Wife comes home, plugs it back in and the damn thing starts working normally. She thinks I'm incompetent, but now I have coffee again. Coffee is great. :techman:

I had a passing interest in trains as a child (model train sets, visiting the train store and various displays around town), but I love it when people carry through on that into adulthood. My interests may not really have matured, but they've changed.

My dad had a friend that built model planes until...well, if it's the person I'm thinking, probably still is, and he must be at least 75 by now. I'm pretty sure he's older than my dad was. He's also the first person I got a film camera from; a really nice 8mm camera that would hold a 50ft roll.

Pretty sure it was this camera, but I know it was this brand:

On a side note, I only found out recently that my dad's friend, basically his best friend through adulthood, dated my mom before my dad did. I guess it didn't go too well, but he and my mom were still able to get along into the future and are even involved in the same investment club today.

I went out to use my snowblower in my yard and on my driveway. What was nice is that when I got to the front of the front car in my driveway and was about to clear the ridge that the snowplow left, I discovered that the City Councilman's wife that lives across the street from us had already cleared in front of my car and the plow ridge. I knew she was out there clearing my next-door neighbor's sidewalks and driveway (an elderly couple that has been having a lot of health issues this last year, especially). I did not see that she had done part of our driveway, as well! And it's the most difficult part!

I'll have to go over and thank her later.
