Surely something good happened to you today

A little boy walked into my toy shop this morning, saw a Fast and the Furious car (1/64 scale) and told me "that is a beautiful car, I love the Fast and the Furious! Did you know there's going to be a 10? I can't wait to see it!" So I handed him the car and said it was his.

He replied, "really?! For me?" and I said "yes, sir, for you," and he patted me on the arm, smiled and said "you're a nice person."

Nothing feels better than a little kid telling you you're a nice person.

Such a kind gesture that will have made his day. Reading that reminded of this advert that was on a few years ago:

Aw, that is sweet! (yeah, I teared up at the end)

Yes, I adore kids, and I keep a big tote full of extra toys (just loose hot wheels, little figurines, and such), and kids can pick from them if they have no money. In this case, the little fellow saw one of our die cast cars on the table, and I knew that look. You just know when they've fallen in love with something.

I always wave at kids when I'm at work. Kinda makes my day more bearable.

I also knew that there was never a chance in hell of me actually having kids of my own. I would totally suck as a dad, and I'm fully aware of this. I like having nieces and nephews though. Because I get to hand them back to their parents.
See, that is the best part of being uncle or an aunt. You can load them up on candy, let them have fun, and then hand them over to their mom and dad and laugh an evil laugh as they're leaving because you know exactly what you have done.

Well, I don't really do stuff like that, I just like taking my nieces and nephews to baseball games. :)

My sister and her family live in San Rafael (just across San Francisco Bay) and I always take my nephews to Giants games whenever I go out there. And last summer when I was in Philadelphia I bought a Phillies jersey for my youngest niece...whose first name is Harper.

(You'll figure it out. ;) )

One small good thing for me: I saw a pair of Black-bellied Whistling Ducks by our pond, when I went to get the mail. They are the cutest things! I wish I had my phone with me--maybe I could've gotten a picture.
This is what they look like, although I think the picture doesn't get the bright pink of the bill:

I got my Internet back online!

I've been offline for only two days and I was already panicking. I am such a :censored:ing lightweight. There's a lot more important things going on in the world, and I almost have a coronary because my fucking INTERNET goes offline? I oughta bash my head against the wall for being such a wimp. :(

It really is sad how reliant we've become on the internet these days, I think the majority of people in the US at least, would be completely screwed if something happened that wiped it out permanently.

That's so cool, I've never seen one of them before.

The grocery store offered free vegan cheese so I took it, then forgot about it in the fridge for months. When I saw that it was in the fridge, I checked the expiration date, and since it's vegan, it's not for months!

What brand is it?
I got to meet my second Mustang while I was out on my bike ride today, and the woman rider was nice enough to let me pet her.
