Sure enough, no STXI trailer with Indy 4

It did.
We never used to be so picky. If somebody watches the original King Kong or any of the works of Ray Harryhausen, you will never hear them complain about how the skeletons were a bit jerky or that the big ape's fur didn't blow realistically when he was climbing the Empire State Building (if they do complain, however, you should feel free to shoot them on the grounds of wrongness and philistinism).
Heh, if only. (And we won't even get into what happens to those who bitch about Black & White. )

(emphasis mine)

On topic: Trailer, or lack thereof

I'm not too concerned that we haven't seen another one yet, even if Indy 4 did seem like an appropriate spot to place one. We've got a lot of time to go, and I'd rather go hungry for new stuff than get so much, so early, that the movie is an anticlimax, when it finally arrives. (We've seen that before, haven't we?)

I had read somewhere that a trailer for Trek XI was going to be attached to Indy 4 but that the decision was reversed when the release date was pushed back.

As to the cgi arguement, I have always been a proponent of practical effects. Yes you can do one hell of a space battle scene with cgi but it will never be as impressive to me as the Enterprise flying into V'Ger in TMP. Cgi has its place as an impressive backround tool but doesn't ever seem to hold up as well at the forefront as practical effect do.

I saw Indy 4 on Friday and while the film did have a different feel then the first 3, I enjoyed it. I'd rate it above Temple of Doom but below Raiders and Last Crusade.

Agreed; I liked it a lot, too. I read a very little bit of one review that said it was very good because it was more of the same. I went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprized. The Last Crusade may be my favorite, although Raiders was great.

It's a shame they didnt include the trailer with the movie. Even though STXI is still pretty far away they could have taken advantage of the massive success of Indie to at least let people know that there is trek on the way.

I read that about 25% of critic's who saw Indy 4 hated it (and I've read a number of those reviews). I guess I must be in that minority of people who didn't like it.
