Suppose the Dominion became benevolent, what would happen to the Jem'Hadar and Vorta?

One thing the Founders could do is to tell the Jem Haddar they are not Gods. Even if you keep making them with the idea of being soliders you can be more upfront with them and give them more in life than just being a solider to be used and replaced when you no longer have value.

It would not be ultimate freedom but it would be a starting place and something that would evolve as new Jem Haddar start to change the entire culture. the Jem Haddar you would have to worry about most is the old guard who would be very set in the old ways due to how they were created.

Given how short-lived the Jem'Hadar are, they could probably change their makeup over time, generation by generation.

Fun fact: Not only are the Hunters and Tosk (from DS9's "Captive Pursuit") members of the Dominion, the Tosk and Jem'Hadar were created from the same 'original' race.

It was never established that the Hunters of Tosk were Dominion members or that Tosk was related to the Jem'Hadar (though it certainly is possible).

It was GOING to be established (the Jem'Hadar that takes the Defiant's helm in "Broken Link" was supposed to be a Hunter) but this got cut at the last minute.

And it's not like it isn't obvious that the Tosk and Jem'Hadar are 'cousins' anyway - not only do they look alike, but they have the same shroud/cloak capability.

The only real difference between the way Founders treat Gem Hadar and the Jedi treat clones is the clones aren’t addicted to a drug and are allowed R&R.

Arguably, the purpose of the drug isn’t to keep them loyal to the Founders but to keep them from killing the Vorta.

So they could remove that addiction, tone down the Gem Hadar’s inherent aggression, give them the capacity for other personal interests and still have a loyal army of Gem Hadar.

Just like in that episode of Rick and Morty where Morty got his genetically aggressive son to direct his aggression into screenwriting.

Surely the Dominion would keep the Jem' Hadar as their troops even if they were no longer aggressive towards the Federation and her allies? I mean the Borg could come a calling and I'll bet there are many other nastier threats out there in space to protect the Founders from!

In STO, the Jem’Hadar receive independence from Ketracel-White in 2411 as a condition for Odo’s Dominion to join the Khitomer Alliance.

Are they really slaves? They were bred to feel intense loyalty to the Founders. The Founders don't even need the White to control them, really. Freeing the Jem Hadar and Vorta would be like freeing a domesticated dog. They would live somehow but feel hurt and abandoned.
The Jem’Hadar are slaves. They are sentient beings, not animals. The Founders have manipulated them - genetically - to believe that their servants are better off being slaves. But that is still just manipulation.

Wasn’t it even suggested that both versions of Odo were actually from each other’s universes?
That’s a new one on me.
To clarify, the ɿɘbnυoᆿ ɘlɒmɘᆿ and Odo (1st Splinter Timeline) bring that up in a metaphorical sense - Odo hails justice, like the mirror Dominion. Mirror Odo is as ruthless as the Prime-Dominion. But they are not actually swapped persons.

Even a nation that is generally peaceful and benevolent would still need soldiers for protection and diplomats for foreign relations. So I don't think they'd let either the Vorta or Jem'Hadar go extinct. They might tweak their genetic programming a bit to make the Vorta less sleazy or the Jem'Hadar less brutal, but they'd still be around.

I think you have it right.
