Supernatural's Ratings PLUMMET - AICN

Didn't Kripke say that this story -- that they've been telling since day one -- would be done this season? That doesn't mean the show has to end.

The show's universe has a lot of potential in it. This story is getting a little old though... and I admit, it'd be kind of hard to upstage the Apocalypse.

Why do a lot of you want this show to end anyways? I've only recently started watching it - seems to me they could milk the Lucifer story line. Do some of you think the story is becoming to irrevocable or something?

Irrevocable? No, not necessarily, but what do you do for an encore to Lucifer? It's not that i want the show to end. I love it....but.....I don't want it to stay on the air too long like Smallville. What a disaster that show has become. Yes, this universe has potential, but as mswood pointed out, Kripke will be gone after this season unless something drastic happens. A new showrunner who's possibly beholdened to Dawn Ostroff for his/her job is a scary thought. :wtf:

The solution is simple: make Dean a vampire. Then all will be well. :rommie:

End the show with this season. I want to see the Cowboy Supernatural thing.

Oh come on, I can't waitto argue that Peter would feel nothing but murderous rage at Sylar.

Heroes needs a vampire character, too. Hey, that's what they can do to make Claire stop being so boring and useless!

Hell, Adrian Pasdar's exotic je ne sais quoi screamed vampire. They just turned him into Sylar instead. Blech. I agree that Sam would be a much better vampire than Dean. Hee.

Ain't nothing that won't make Claire useless. Well, I had to work tonight. I'm assuming the Heroes premiere sucked. I'm sorry I missed House, though.

He's been a vampire before-Near Dark.

The fear is that almost every single tv program ends up staying on the air after they have started to lose quality. Some to just small degrees some so much that they are just shell of themselves.

Now for myself, I don't see any drop in quality, but I also am aware that it is possible that the show runner will not return (though he might),and that often changes the quality of a show dramatically(sometimes for the best, but more often for the worst). And both actors really, really don't want the show to drag out, so at most I see a sixth season (and with the numbers from the CW might no be possible, they might be out of business).

This season is the perfect time for the show to end. You can't top the Apocalypse, and anything they would try to do for a sixth season would be a letdown. Let the show end while it's still on top quality-wise, and before the ratings fall any lower...

It certainly is this year. As mswood pointed out, all the CW shows are down across the board, some of them severely. Gossip Girl and OTH actually aired against competition last night. I'm interested to see the numbers. Starpulse.com just did its evaluation and grading of each network. It assigned a letter grade and then designated "the good, the bad, and the ugly." The CW's evaluation wasn't very detailed. The good: Supernatural. The bad: everything else.

I kid you not. :wtf: Sad thing is, it's true.

I hear you.

Up against the season premieres of House and Dancing With the Stars (God, that's the most stupid of all reality shows)--

Last, and very least, was The CW’s combination of One Tree Hill (Viewers: 2.48 million; A18-49: 1.2/ 3) and Gossip Girl (Viewers: 2.09 million; A18-49: 1.1/ 3). While I understand who The CW’s target audience is, comparably the two shows are down by an average 950,000 viewers and 31 percent among adults 18-49 from one night earlier. With erosion this steep, the young female audience has to be down as well.

This network took money away from SPN and Smallville's budget to give Gossip Girl an extra 2 episodes last year. Even tired old in its 7th season OTH without Chad Michael Murray performs better than Gossip Girl. OTH....a WB creation. Gossip Girl.....the CW.

FYI, the season premiere of Heroes averaged 6.02 million viewers during its 2 hours. The 18-49 demo was 2.8.
