Supernatural season four news

There'll be damsels in distress. I suspect they'll be attractive and word is Ruby will still be around, just in a different meatsuit. ;) As for Dean getting out of hell, they (our guys Sam and Bobby) didn't get him out. They don't know how he got out. That's the point. They don't know, and Dean doesn't remember anything.

Rufus is that black hunter that Dean met, Captain Piett. It was in "Time is on My Side," the next to last episode. He was played by Steven Williams, who was one of the Mr. X's on the X-Files.

Odd why they'd bring him back...he seemed to be just a one off, though he was sort of an interesting character. I guess given his contacts, it might make sense they bring him back to try and figure out how Dean got out of Hell

I just recently got interested in Supernatural this past season (Season 3).

I've enjoyed the relationship between Sam & Dean and Bobby too quite a bit and the humor of works well with the types of life & death situations they end up in.

I'm starting Season 1 soon to get caught up, despite the fact that I already know much of the background of the characters from summaries and such.

In regards to Bella... I liked the concept of her character in theory, but mostly it was a waste. Plus now we're down a Colt.

I'm hoping that when the Colt was fashioned, they also made a Winchester... hehe.

I read that the audience didn't like the addition of two hot babes in the series, despite their roles being quite good. One may wonder if this show is targeted towards the gay audience more than a general one.

The audience warmed up towards Ruby. It's Bela who didn't have a prayer with them. When Kripke admitted in TV Guide (he does many Q&A's with TV Guide) that it was "suggested" by the network that he add two new young females to the cast (so they extended Bela's role which was written as a one off for "Bad Day at Black Rock") the fans resented the character because there was no more money in the budget for the Ellen character to continue on a recurring basis. A woman over 40 wasn't appealing to the CW suits, but she was appealing to the fans; they'd really warmed to Ellen during season 2.

The writers don't seem to be able to get "hot young" female characters right. They got rid of Meg too soon. As an antagonist, she really worked well. Over 40 characters they seem to have a much easier time with, but the CW isn't interested in anything over 40. It's often joked that Jensen has to worry about his job with the CW now that he's an old man of 30.

Alas, Kingston_Trekker, Kripke and TPB are dedicated to not turning the brothers into himbos, much to the CW suits' bewilderment.

Until then, here's a little treat for you. Gentlemen of the straight persuasion, avert your eyes. You gotta love a towel that's slung that low on a man's hip bone. If only he had a hairy chest, he'd be perfect. Still, he's pretty tasty.

I think it's the fact of having characters forced in there, rather being there naturally, and that meaning the show doesn't quite go as originally planned because of it, is what annoys the fans.
And the fact is, there's tons of good looking women on the show, they just tend to be the damsel of the week.

From Digital Spy

Traci Dinwiddie has been cast in a guest role in the upcoming season four premiere of Supernatural, according to TV Guide.

The 35-year-old will play Pamela Barnes, a "kick ass hot-looking in a Gina Gershon kind of way" psychic who helps Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) track down brother Dean (Jensen Ackles).

Dinwiddie's previous TV credits include One Tree Hill and Dawson's Creek. She has also starred in films Mr. Brooks and The Notebook.

The Supernatural season four opener 'Lazarus Rising' premieres on the CW network on September 4.

I have no clue who she is, but I thought I'd post this in here anyway.

Sheesh, the CW has only two ways to describe female characters--"matronly," or "kick ass hot." It's so dorky.

However, Ostroff and the suits must be leaving Kripke alone if he's dumped the young, hot chicks and cast an old black man and a woman who's....gasp!.....35!! Don't women wrinkle into prunes and die at age 30? :alienblush:

For those who are interested--Miss Traci Dinwiddie.

Bingo. It was so painfully obvious that Bela was shoehorned in. She can only get one over on the brothers so many times before people role their eyes and say, "yeah, whatever."

Yeah. I don't know why they can't script a younger female character into anything but a stereotype. Meg was great, but Meg was a demoness. She wasn't really human, just walking around in a human meatsuit. Ruby was okay, but she was also a demoness. If they'd scripted Jo like they did in her last appearance in "Born Under a Bad Sign," she'd have worked out fine, but they saddled her with this "kick ass, Mary Sue-ish" persona during her first appearances that doomed her character. The fans, of course, took to her mother, Ellen, really well as a character but not to the intended "kick ass" love interest for Dean. There's a very fine line between a well rounded female character and grrrrrrrrrrl power!!! which is annoying as hell.

With Ruby and Meg gone, and Bobby and grizzled old Rufus in, I think it's safe to say the network suits have left Supernatural alone. The Warner half of the equation is counting the episodes until they have a nice five season syndication package for the show. Kripke has a five season arc planned, so it works out nicely.

This is a mixed blessing for me. OTOH, the shallow part of me wants to see it. A lot. Every scene, in fact. The fan part of me though likes how the producers dont follow the usual CW mould and feature super sassy hot blonde chicks and drool-worthy guys that look pretty and not do much else except be love interests for the sassy empowered young women. Sammy and Dean are super hot but their characters are fantastic and that should always be at the forefront iMO. Plus it makes them just so much more attractive being pretty and strong characters. Much better than the Gossip Girl type crap where the guys are pretty hot but gormless and have no personality whatsover.

Still, they could get shirtless/naked a bit more often IMO. :p

I think Jo kinda worked as a "little sister" trying to join in with her "big brothers" character, but not as a love interest...

She did work as a younger sister type, but TPTB loudly announced, preseason, that Jo was Dean's LOVE INTEREST. She looked 17 years old, and he looked 29 or 30. That's a problem right out of the starting gate when you think a policeman would ask for her I.D. whenever they're in public together. Then they gave her lines like the uber pouty, "You don't think women can do the job!" Dear. God. :cardie:

There's another charged term--"love interest." It's so hard to script right. Love interests on genre shows, on any show really, can get nauseating beyond belief. Witness Apollo and Starbuck on nuBSG. Why the writers tried to put them together romantically is beyond me. Bad idea.

Hot babes are fine. It's just that the character of Bela just didn't work out. I don't really mind there's a bunch of guys on the show. There's not too many shows on the air with loads of male bonding. I do like seeing a bunch of guys hanging out and being guys. That's a dynamic that you don't see much in tv. Besides why does it have to be hot young babes? Ellen is a babe. She works as a character on the show because she's done right and isn't shoehorned in. And contrary to conventional wisdom not all of us guys just like seeing hot young things. We do like seeing women closer to out own age who are hot too. :D

Now now. Don't confuse the poor CW suits with confusing concepts and wacky ideas like a woman over 40 being attractive. That doesn't compute. Teenagers and young adults don't want to see people over 40. The fogies need to stay in that rocking chair on the porch--especially the old chicks.
