Supernatural Season 6 Storyline

It will be about aliens. I mean, really. Where else is there to go? It could be done right, don't you think?

Kripke, in his latest Q&A, says that if he stays he'll go "small and intimate" with the season 6 storyline because [basically] you can't top the devil and who would they be kidding? Perhaps a light myth arc about the past of the Winchester family or something of that nature was hinted at.

While a big fan of the show, I'm very skeptical and nervous about whether a sixth season can work (and I'm glad the leads are only signed for 6 and say they won't re-sign) but now that it's going to happen, I hope Kripke's plan works. Ben Edlund (while writing some of the crazier more psychotic scripts) has also written some of the most heartbreaking, serious scripts, too. With him on staff, maybe they can pull it off. I hope so. Maybe they'll find out John or Mary were adopted and search for their biological family history in all its spooky glory. Something like that.

I read the other day that both Smallville and Supernatural have been picked up for Seasons 10 and 6 respectively.

Not sure exactly where I read that, but if anyone else can confirm, I'd appreciate it.

I'm a big fan of Supernatural, and for some reason I still watch Smallville so...

In the series finale, Sam and Dean are mystically transported back in time to the Wild West where they meet their ancestor(s), who also happen to hunt monsters. Thus setting up a cheesy spinoff. :p

Or transport them to the far future where the dead walk. The final shot will be Dean loading a shotgun(add a dragon for good measure)

I'd like to learn more about Samuel Colt, myself. He was supposedly one of the greatest hunters of all time. And it's no coincidence that the Winchester's are named the Winchester's.

They could bring newly unemployed Joss Whedon on board to help write an arc possibly re-introducing The First Evil sans the Turok-hans, just kidding!

I expect they will spend half the season with the boys meeting new hunters. The new hunter whose episode gets the best ratings will be the star of the show for season 7 since the current cast isn't expected to return.

the show needs to be careful about the 6th series & more, as has already been said where do you go after the devil himself? and the CW has proved it will renew anything no matter without worrying about the plot (Smallville)

Yeah, but Padalecki and Ackles won't renew their contracts after the 6th season. Unlike poor Welling, they both have hope of finding other work. Wouldn't put it past Ostroff to try and make it work with two different actors, but it won't work. It originally was an urban legend show, but the actors inhabited the characters too well. Supernatural is the story of Sam and Dean.

this is the bit where the CW not caring about the plot comes in.

Yeah, but the CW has a long history of not getting it. And they can't do aliens. It's been established in the SPN universe that alien abduction is the one thing they don't believe in. Like Bobby says, "It's nothing but a bunch of cranks and pranks. I've never seen honest evidence of alien abduction in all my years. Not one." That's a pretty famous quote from the episode that introduced the Trickster.

im sure the show could get away with an alien themed episode, maybe suggest a more demonic version of the Roswell crash for example.

Eh. Dean was convinced that angels didn't exist.

Edit: They could even connect the god plotline to the alien plotline (as in a "where do we fit into the universe" season).
