Supernatural Season 6 Storyline

Kripke, in his latest Q&A, says that if he stays he'll go "small and intimate" with the season 6 storyline because [basically] you can't top the devil and who would they be kidding?

This could be really good, if it's done right. They could deal with the fallout from the events of this season, and how the brothers deal with returning to "normal" life after something as big as Lucifer and the apocalypse.
Hell, they could even deal with how the world returns to normal, depending on how much of the apocalypse we get through before Sam and Dean sort it out. I can't see this show pulling a reset and making it so that the apocalypse never happened, so hopefully there will be ramifications on a larger scale too.

It will be fine with me if they go back to stories about American Folklore and Urban Legends. That's why I started watching to begin with.

Why exactly does the Apocalypse have to occur within one TV season? Looks like we could see some interesting additions (angels, demons, etc) and a hell of a lot of action.

Budget. Just because Ostroff is suddenly singing its praises and renewing it doesn't mean she isn't going to slash the budget for the fifth season in a row. You can only suspend the apocalypse for so long without completely blunting the impact. They're teetering as it is by having to stretch it out for a season's worth of 22 episodes.
