Spoilers Supernatural - Season 12

Because they were in the eye of the storm where the spell was cast?

Because Crowley was radiating a protectiveness leaking from his own immunity to time manipulation.

Because they met god? Being in the presence of god, no matter how long ago or how briefly, has to be a fixed point, anchoring them to the time line where they met god?

Roweena wrote the spell. She didn't want to be messed over with fake memories from a new timeline, and wanted herself and Crowley to remember how badly she screwed him, and the boys were in the wake of that too.

They killed Chronos? That also had to have consequences?

Maybe they remembered nothing, and Rowena (during the ad break) explained the difference between the new timeline and the old timeline to them?

Hey, Pembroke. And Andover. :rommie:

Well, that was pretty good for the most part, but resolved a bit quickly and cavalierly. Why did nobody raise the possibility ofbringing Fiona forward in time? It would have accomplished the samething and nobody would have to die.

And, yes, we do have our ClassicLucifer back-- although he seemed a bit subdued.

And I knew Dagon would be showing up pretty soon. :rommie:

Supernatural time travel is confusing, why didn't the Brother's memories alter with the timeline?
I assumed it was written into the spell, since Rowena and Crowley remembered as well. Sam said something about Rowena "tweaking" it.

And, yes, we do have our ClassicLucifer back-- although he seemed a bit subdued.

I assumed it was an aftereffect of being banished back to Hell and into Nick, plus being in irons--again. He tasted freedom, and got as high as POTUS, and then...it's all over.

The sly, knowing grin he had at the very end of the episode tells me there's more to this than meets the eye. Maybe he was counting on his nephilim offspring to come rescue him and was just biding his time? Or maybe he knows the replicas of the Cage material--supposedly perfect "at the molecular level"--are imperfect and he's just waiting for the right moment to spring himself?

Personally, I prefer the latter. It makes sense that a cage fashioned by God himself would hold the devil--it does NOT make sense that it could be so easily duplicated by demons.

(All that aside, I just have to say it...the bit about "we found your discarded vessel a few years ago, brought it here"...as clunky as that whole bit of exposition and retconning was, it was an absolutely ingenious way to bring back Mark Pellegrino. Let's hope he's done with whatever other show he was taping that was keeping him tied up--no pun intended--and that SPN can keep him around for a while.)

It was kind of clunky-- or at least kind of comic booky-- but it was worth it. I was attributing his subdued state to his little breakdown as Rick Springfield in the wake of his talk with Chuck. Maybe we're about to see a new stage in his evolution.

This has been a bit overshadowed by Lucifer, but I absolutely loved how the boys found out about Mary's involvement in the Men of Letters. It wasn't some big secret that was dramatically discovered by Sam or Dean at the worst possible moment creating a bunch of unnecessary drama. Instead Mary bought the boys some food and beer, told them exactly what was going on, and the three of them had a lengthy, mature discussion on the pros and cons of working with the BMOL. I don't think Supernatural has ever done that before and it was great to see.

More to the point, they spent two whole seasons (9 and 10) doing the exact opposite, and it was god-awful. Hopefully this won't be an isolated incident...

I agree. I could have used some discussion of her role in the Heliel disaster, though. She put them in a really risky spot without all the relevant information.

Mom brings a little maturity to the table. Not a lot, but a big improvement by Winchester standards. :rommie:

Just poking my head in here. Not sure if there is a more general Supernatural forum. Just wanted to give a heads up I am about to start this show for the FIRST TIME EVER. Never had the time before to really get into it, but here we go...

Are you starting with the current season or going back to the beginning?

Riverside, just my two cents and of course only my own personal opinion, but stick with seasons 1-5. You will remember the show more fondly that way. I tried to keep up with it but at some point in S7 I just said this is so over for me and from what I gather it hasn't been a bad decision. But hey, that first five years with Kripke as a producer and with a decent budget and with a proper 2nd unit, really awesome stuff! I would say Supernatural 1-5 is definitely in my list of the best shows ever alongside with shows like Babylon 5 and Person Of Interest.

I'll keep that in mind. I've only ever stopped a handful of shows in the middle because they couldn't hold my interest, so we will see if this one sucks me in. I have an OCD tendency to finish things, even if they become a dumpster fire. Lol.

This week's show was...meh. I sure hope things pick up from here on in, because the last couple of weeks have been lackluster.

And, on another note...sadly we'll have no more Rick Worthy after this. That's an occasion for a sad face...he's a terrific actor and the way he played the Alpha Vamp was spot on.

You know, I've always found the Fred Flinstone-style beard comical, but that BMOL guy takes it to a whole new level. :rommie:

Well, that was quite interesting. The BMOL were humbled-- at least boss man was-- and Sam was impressed enough to sign on. And maybe Dean. He did seem to find some common ground with Mr Fetch-- although he didn't approve of his methods (interestingly, Fetch seemed to approve of Dean's). And the Alpha Vampire is dead.

But there's still a wrongness about the BMOL, and I think it goes back to the "old men" in charge. I think we'll meet them soon, and it won't be a happy experience.

To each their own, but I have the exact opposite opinion. I found the first half of the season to be weak and meandering, but ever since they came back from the winter break (starting with the jail break) the show has been firing on all cylinders. For a while this season I was seriously considering dropping the show, but now I can't wait for the next episode.

I was a bit sad to see the Alpha go. Rick Worthy and his phenomenal voice always made the episodes better; plus, the Alpha was the only vamp--maybe the only Monster--that really created a sense of dread for me. I liked the episode, though; it was good to see the BMOL get taken down a notch (or two, or three) and we have the ominous "old men" out there and that clearly will not end well.

Anyone notice that Mark Pellegrino is now part of the main cast credits? I wonder if it's just for the remainder of the season or if there are future plans.
