Supernatural 8x23 "Sacrifice" spoiler discussion thread

Obviously the writing got away from itself.

Maybe free will isn't about deciding form your options, it's about telling god that he can stick his plan straight up his ass.

They've been alone for thousands o... Millions of years.

They can ignore each other, they can ignore demons, and the frakking monkeys with electronic watches... But if God starts giving orders again they're just a bunch of tin men.

Lucifer rebelled.

Obviously God told him to rebel.

Seriously.

It's like how the same guy owns Coke and Pepsi.

Well, this was pretty good. The only thing that really bugged me about it was Dean stopping Sam and Sam agreeing to it-- that act of selfishness has probably cost hundreds or thousands of lives in the long run. It's not surprising, of course, because this is who the Winchesters are. But I would have preferred that the spell be interrupted in some other way and that the Winchesters had shown a little more backbone.

But, overall, a very nice finale and lots to wonder about for next season: What will happen to the Angels on Earth? Are all the Angels mortal now (since it looked like their wings were burning off)? What will Metatron do up there in Heaven alone? Is Naomi really dead? Is Crowley permanently changed? Will Abbadon be back? What will become of Human Castiel (at least we know that he won't be a Deus Ex Machina now that he's a regular again)? What will become of Sam now that he's suffering damage not even angelic Castiel could fix? And were the Angels already on Earth spared the wing-burning thing?

I have to say that naive Castiel has worn a little thin. It's not that he's not funny-- it's acceptable that an Angel could be isolated from the Earth and be inexperienced and naive and this could be amusing-- but every other Angel we've ever met is pretty savvy, so that just makes Castiel look retarded. Plus which, after all these years he should be starting to catch on.

Anyway, a good and entertaining end to a half-bad season. I hope the restored goodness keeps up next year.

thewinchesterfamilybusiness.com is a good sight. There is a lot of good fair debate and ppl are generally respected. No brother favouritism allowed!!

Kind of a slow start to the season but I still found it enjoyable....Who is to say against me that with Crowley, he is the "J.R. Ewing" in this series. Finding out Sam wimped out after Dean and Cas were spellbound into Purgatory kind of didn't settle with me but how he took up the mantle of a "Man of Letters" had me wondering if he really changed that much.
when I first started watching I found out that Kripke and the writers personally delved into all kinds of supernatural lore in preparation of the show.....Here is an interesting read if you want: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metatron
