Superman's attitude toward Superboy

I've changed my mind.

I'd rather see Connor in the Legion costume Superboy wears in Kingdom Come. It has the Legionnaires style to it -- blue sides, red down the middle.

^ This. I totally agree. The costume above was also featured in Young Justice the comic if I'm not mistaken.

He also needs to talk to Wonder Girl who has adopted the same jeans and tee-shirt style. I hate it when couples dress alike.

With that Legion no longer around (well, as I've stated in the past, I really do hope they are out there exploring the Multiverse and that Grant Morrison uses them for his often promised Multiverse story), I doubt we'll see that look being used.

I'm actually okay with the T-Shirt/Jeans look, I just wish they took the time to explain why he adopted it. Even a simple, "It's easier to change into when there's an emergency," throw-away line would work. Come to think of it, it's not such a bad idea, instead of keeping your costume, cape, and boots (and, in some cases, gloves) hidden under clothes, S-boy just needs to keep his T-shirt hidden, which must make it more comfortable when he's not being S-boy, and quicker to change into S-boy when necessary.

Technically, the Legion seen in Kingdom Come isn't any previous Legion that we've seen, though the costumes were definitely inspired by Chris Sprouse's designs for Legionnaires pre-Zero Hour. At the time, Kingdom Come was just an Elseworlds. Now, it's Earth-22, the Legion we see there wasn't in Legion of Three Worlds, and per Thy Kingdom Come that Legion is still around. :)

^ It should be noted that Ross painted an updated version of that Kingdom Come Legion roster that was revealed in the Epilogue of JSA: Thy Kingdom Come. It was heavily implied in the panel that the Superboy and Supergirl in the Legion were descendants of Clark Kent and Princess Diana of Themiscryra. An aged thousand year old Clark is seen wearing a red robe gazing up into the sky at their fly by.

I liked Superboy's second costume. It was definitely less 90ish and had a jacket, but one that was designed to go with the costume (instead of just a leather jacket that was given to him).

I wonder if Invincible was based upon that drawing...

Good point. :)

Much as I liked Thy Kingdom Come (though I think the final chapter is weak), the story doesn't really fit with Kingdom Come. The idea that Superman experiences all of The Kingdom Come -- thrown to the DCU Earth, joined up with the Justice Society, fighting and defeating Gog -- in the moment when the nuclear weapon detonates thanks to Captain Marvel... well, Superman coming back to the Kingdom Come universe all bitter and angry doesn't make a whole lot of sense. That Superman wouldn't have needed Norman McKay to talk him down off the ledge; the JSA had already done that.

Anyway.

The implication of the caption in Kingdom Come is that Superboy and Supergirl abandoned the 20th-century when darkness fell to enjoy the light of the 30th-century utopia. The Superboy and Supergirl we see in the single panel could very well be Connor Kent and Linda Danvers. The epilogue in Thy Kingdom Come, to me anyway, isn't clear who the Superboy and Supergirl are. They could be Connor and Linda. They could be Clark and Diana's 31st-century descendants. They could be someone else entirely. Clark could be looking at them and smiling because they're family. Or Clark could be looking at them and smiling because they're young and optimistic and heroic, a reminder of his own youth.

Anyway. (Again.)

I just like that Superboy costume. I don't care who wore it "originally" or where the costume comes from. If Connor ditches the jeans and t-shirt for that Legion-styled costume, I'd be seriously happy. :)

I kind of interpreted the epilogue scene as being that both Connor and Kara were part of the Legion still but were now grown and instead the decadents of Clark and Diana are the new Superboy and Supergirl. Anyways yeah Alex Ross gave a lengthy interview a few weeks ago on CBR about Thy Kingdom Come and how Geoff Johns adjusted the original plot. So what we read wasn't even what he had originally pitched to DC.

Thy Kingdom Come was a (very long) arc in JSA written by Geoff Johns. They're not talking about Kingdom Come by Waid and Ross.
