Superman

I enjoyed Smallville all the way through, but it was a little odd how for the last several years they had him doing everything Superman does, but still refused to just make him Superman. I really think once they hit season 5 or 6, they should have just ended Smallville and relaunched it as either Superman, or even, give the focus on other supheroes, Justice League.

Is there any chance of them eventually adding Superboy to HBOMax? I would love to check it out, but I don't really want to have to buy it to see it. And yes, I am aware there are other ways to watch it without paying, but I only do that when there are other ways to watch it without paying, but I only do that when there is absolutely no other way to see it, so I would just give up and buy either the streaming version on Amazon or the DVDs before I did that.

At this point, it sounds like his going back to being Superman had nothing to do with Cavill leaving The Witcher. For one thing, this is a movie roll, and plenty of actors have managed to do both movies and network series with 20+ episodes, so I doubt it would be that hard for him to play Superman in one or two movies every few years, and 8 episodes of The Witcher a year.
From what I've seen in other places, Cavill has been unhappy with how Geralt is written since the show started, and it sounds like that is why he left, and not Superman.

Apparently Superboy is available for free (legally) on Tubi. Highly recommended, if you're not allergic to cheese.

(If you do check it out, start watching with Episode 5, "Countdown to Nowhere," which is actually the first episode chronologically, featuring Superboy's public debut.)

OTOH, I bought the DVDs, and I'm very glad I did, because physical media > streaming.

Actual storage in boxes in the attic, or display storage, so that your house guests know that you are awesome?

Get a really big knife.

Slice open the back of your sofa.

You can slide 500 DVDs in there without reducing the constriction of of your couch whatsoever.

display storage.. 3 tall bookshelves so far and counting..... Nice ordered collection of movies but it's got piles on top of the ones on the shelves so it looks a wee bit untidy too. I wish buying movies digitally was a bit more easy as that would be perfect just whack them onto hard drives and be done.

Oh cool, I'm already signed up for Tubi, and now it's on my list. They also have the '90s Flash series, which I have been really interested in since the current Flash series started, especially once they actually brought that Flash back.
 
Sad thing is, he wasn't. Not sure why, but DC appeared to be afraid to do anything with this fantastic set-up, until three years later with the very last story, where everything happens at once and Luthor is removed from office.
 
Happy with Mr Cavill's recent comments about improving the next film. My advice: He and the writers should get together and watch Richard Donner's 1978 film together. That will give them the right idea.

No thank you!:thumbdown: I don't want some attempted re-hash of the Chris Reeve movies. "Superman Returns" was bad enough. And if I must be brutally frank, my feelings about the 1978 movie are not what it used to be.

The current administration has acted to free millions of Americans from vast amounts of student debt that harmed the economy; offered pardons to people convicted of marijuana possession; begun the process of re-scheduling marijuana out of being an illegal substance; assisted Ukraine in protecting its sovereignty from Russian imperialism; ended a brutal war in Afghanistan that previous presidents had been too cowardly to admit had already been lost; has passed legislation for the largest investments in fighting climate change the U.S. has ever made; has drastically reduced the U.S.'s use of drone assassinations; and has worked to expand tax credits to reduce childhood poverty rates. He is, quite frankly, the greatest U.S. President of my lifetime.

Now, if you argue that that's damning him with faint praise or that he's not doing nearly enough, I'd be fine with that. But he is miles and miles better than a literal supervillain (who, I might add, literally invited aliens to invade Earth so that he could get the credit from fighting them off and could steal their technology).

I mean, no one wants a rehash. The trick is in finding a way to tell a story that maintains the spirit of Superman: The Movie while using a plot and versions of the characters that are fresh and original. In all honesty, I think Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a really good example of a film that has a similar spirit to Superman: The Movie while featuring a much more modern plot.
 
Okay, you guys, I call BS. I went to some free Roku channel and attempted to watch Superboy. Made it literally like four minutes into ep 1.

It was unwatchable, like middle schoolers acting. Even the pacing/editing was cringe bad in a couple spots. I couldn't believe it was on a network.

So yeah, no thanks.

I was gonna try Smallville; now I'm afraid after that.

I would love something new. Samaritan appealed more than any of the recent Superman type stories. I love hopeful heroes but give me one that feels real. No, I don't mean gritty, I don't mean cynical. I mean someone who has stared into the void of hopelessness and chose hope anyway. That's power. That's heroes I need right now.
