Superman

You will believe a man can fly, but hiding his suit under his regular clothes?

Impossible to believe.

I know it's a ridiculous observation, but suspension of disbelief relies on getting the real world stuff right so we swallow the outlandish stuff. Otherwise the house of cards collapses. It's like making sure his cape flaps realistically, we know what that is supposed to look like, so if that looks fake we don't believe he can fly.

Given the different personal armor and ballistic wear I see that can be hidden well enough I don't see that much of an issue. Also, I would draw a larger conclusion once I see it worn underneath everyday wear.

Mileage will vary, and clearly does.

Right, but they always fake the outfit under the clothes. So in the movie it will work perfectly. But will your subconscious mind buy the cheat?
Probably.

But, I am far more generous with a lot of film cheats than most. Yes, I can see them, but the suspension of disbelief is already set for me by watching the film or show.

Exactly, and for characters who are not bulletproof, audiences--who live in the real world which films are usually set in--find the hero's ability to survive otherwise lethal threats or brutal physical attacks if their costumes are built with some sort of protective material.

The "dirty" looks like battle damage to me -- scorch marks or the like. Not seeing the "cheap."

I'm a little surprised they went with the rubbery basketball texture, I thought we were finally moving away from that style of superhero costume.

Not the biggest fan of the S symbol but the boots definitely feel right, very Chris Reeve in look. And I'm really liking that shade of blue and the collar, though atypical for the character, somehow works for me.

Funny. The color is the one thing I absolutely don't like.

It's impossible to hide any version of Superman's cape and boots since the late 1980s under a business suit.

So I got to ask, is that picture implying this is going to be yet another big budget film where the climax is defeating another fucking evil sky beam?

After the 10th time Luthor calls Clark an idiot, Clark takes a chess set out of his cape pocket, sets out the board, and says "Yo bro! Let's go!"

I just started a dedicated watch of Superman: The Animated Series from the 1990's. Five episodes in, and I find it quite impressive. The Batman series gets most of the love, but I would put this on pretty much the same level in terms of animation, writing, and voice talent.
